Effective immediately, Smiths Pharmacy and Home Health will be drive thru and delivery only. It is our goal as your healthcare provider to ensure the best care we can possibly give for our patients. Our drive thru will be open our normal business hours. You may call your prescriptions or needs in to the store at (478) 862-5655, or you may use the internet and have those prescriptions filled at smithspharmacyga.com. We will gladly send you a text that will give you pick up options to choose from. Please make sure we have your cell number on file. We will be offering curbside pick up at marked parking spaces, drive thru pick up, or we will gladly deliver to your home or work if needed. We would ask that you please use the pharmacy number or online site to order your prescription, as this will be the easiest way to ensure that your prescription is filled in a timely manner. Or if you prefer, you may drop your prescription off at the drive thru, and we will send you a text when it is ready. We ask at this time that you do not bring your used prescription bottles to us, as this could be a potential hibernation area for germs. Please be patient with us as we put these new procedures into motion. We care about our customers, and we want to serve you in the best way possible. Thank you for your business! ‘Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to guide us to the path of peace.’ Luke 1:78-79

Georgia Professional Licensure Complaint Form

Starting the first of 2020, it is now unlawful and illegal in Georgia for your insurance company to require you to use a specific pharmacy or to use mail order. You have the right to choose your pharmacy.

Unfortunately, this does not mean that insurance companies play by the rules. Patients are still being told they have to fill their prescriptions at specific pharmacies (usually CVS) or being told they have to use mail order.

If this happens to you, the Georgia Board of Pharmacy is collecting complaints and each one matters! If you experience steering and would like to file a complaint, here are the steps to do so:

1. Have your pharmacy print the prescription reject stating that you need to fill your prescription at a particular pharmacy.

2. Then, take your prescription and fill it at the pharmacy that you were steered to by your insurance and save your receipt. Sounds backward, but the only way to hold them accountable is if they are successful in steering you.

3. Visit the Georgia Board of Pharmacy's website linked in this post. You can choose "unprofessional practices" as the reason for your complaint and share your experience. Include that you believe this is a violation of Pharmacy Anti-Steering Law. You will want to save your rejected claim and your receipt in case you are contacted.

We need these examples so that the Georgia Board of Pharmacy can assist our insurance commissioner in setting these insurance companies straight. Time to tell the insurance companies what to do instead of them telling patients what to do and where to go when it comes to their choice of pharmacy.
