Captain's Log 2019/9/20...OK.. this is NOT Star Trek, but it is a journey of another kind. Today, I've MADE A DECISION. It's time to make some changes. Time to re-arrange some things around the house. It's also time to get SERIOUS about losing some weight...been at over 170 lbs for TOO LONG.
Now, HOW? Well, Nutrisystem is about $300–$350 a month...that's not in the books. Jenny Craig? A month of food from Jenny Craig costs $450 or more. Jenny Craig starts at $16 for a 12-week trial. Uh... NOPE. South Beach Diet cost? The plan costs about $299.99 per month without snacks and $339.99 with snacks. Uh.. NO!
OK..NOW WHAT? I checked online and for my age, height and weight, to lose weight I need to consume less than 1,300 calories a day.
Plan of Action. Look online in Melaleuca's website and get some numbers. Aha! A milk chocolate shake made with Attain Weight Control, 8 oz. of skim milk is: 200 calories. It has "Crave Blocker" to keep the hungries away. An Attain Nutrition Bar (Chocolate Caramel Nut, Chocolate Peanut Butter, or Salty & Sweet Nut) are around 160 calories each. Also has Crave Blocker! With a 250-350 calorie lunch, e.g. grilled chicken tenderloin or steak for stir frying, I can make a wrap with a tortilla shell, some grilled onion and pepper slices, about 325 calories or half a can of Progresso Soup (165 cal.). Add a nice medium apple for a snack (100 calories) or medium orange (50 cals.), and my total daily intake is: around 700-800 calories. IF I get " the munchies", 20 Melaleuca Simply Fit baked crackers made with 10 grains and seeds is 120 calories. I can eat up to 5 times a day, be well under 1,000 calories and NOT hungry. Now the BEST part. Since I'm a loyal Melaleuca Preferred Customer, and I get 15% back in my account as "Loyalty Shopping Dollars", and also have Convenience Certificates, and since I save them, I'm using them and only paying for Shipping via UPS. My order was over $91 and I paid just $11.42 for S/H.
Here's my menu: Melaleuca Attain Milk Chocolate Nutrition Shake Mix for breakfast (sooo satisfying!), an apple or an orange late morning, lunch around 2 (as described - or similar) and an Attain Nutrition Bar around 6:30- 7 PM. Snack at 9 IF munchies attack would be 20 Melaleuca Simply Fit crackers. Sometimes I change the order of meals for variety.
9-20-19 Starting Weight - 171.2 lbs. UGH!
9-27-19 One week in - 167.2 lbs Down 4 !
10-4-19 Two weeks in - 164.6 lbs Down 2.6 more!
10-11-19 Three weeks in - 163.2 lbs Down 1.4 more!
10-18-19 Four weeks in - 161.2 lbs Down 2.0 more! (Total loss to date - 10 lbs!) - My treat for this was a hot fudge sundae from McD's.
10-26-19 Five weeks in - 159.8 lbs Down 1.4 more! (Under 160 for the first time in over 7 years! This is going much better than I thought it would.) * My neighbor said that my shirts don't look as "snug". I've moved the belt one notch smaller, and my jeans and slacks fit much better. Onward!
11-1-2019 SIX weeks in - 157.9 lbs. Down 1.9 pounds more (had a stomach bug for 4 days), butI'm excited.. I'm going to get to my goal!
11-8-2019 Seven weeks in - No weight loss, actually got up 2 lbs. Had some (diet unrelated) intestinal problems for 4-5 days....Diet was shot during that time. Weight up to 160.0
11-15-2019 Eight weeks in - 158.8 and back on track. **Started taking Melaleuca 'Florify' Probiotics and Prebiotics and aiding the digestive track, and hopefully reducing belly fat. Feeling the good effects already. I'm even eating "regular" meals, just a lower fat/cal/carb version. I know I can KEEP the weight OFF after I've finished my 'program'.
11-22-2019 Nine weeks in - 155.8 and ON THE GO! With the Melaleuca 'Florify' Probiotics and Prebiotics and my weight loss plan, it's now in high gear. Belly is down, no more bloating or gas problem, digestive tract problems a thing of the past, my 'diet' is moving faster. I'm now down over 15 lbs.! I'd probably be over 20 except for the intestinal problems. LOVE the 'Florify' product.
11-29-2019 TEN Weeks in - 153.6 and now over 17.5 lbs lost - FOREVER! Spent time looking up food values for various foods to vary the menu. 2 grapefruit halves & 1 tsp sugar are approx. 115-120 calories, plus 4 oz. Raisin Bran and few oz. of Skim Milk are another 100 or so. Under 250 calories for breakfast and satisfying. Have the Shake for lunch and dinner of lean meat, veggie and it works! 4 more lbs to go to get me UNDER 150 and OVER 21 lbs LOST!
12-6-2019 11 weeks in - 153.2 and only .4 lbs. lost, but the belt is down a 2nd notch! Christmas party with friends and good food! Had a great steak with baked potato, veggies, and slice of cake. 2 more pounds and I'll have lost 20. The fight begins anew.
12-13-2019 12 weeks in - 152.4 and .8 lbs, but I'm now on notch #4, so about 3" lost in my waist. Feeling the loss in my left knee which is carrying almost 20 lbs. less weight. Not feeling so winded after some exercise. I'm at the halfway point of my goal, and zeroing in on 135. **I can fit into three pairs of pants that have been hanging up for over 5 years! When I reach my goal, I'll have nice clothes to wear!
12-20-2019 13 weeks in - 151.4...one more lb. and now TWENTY POUNDS LOST!! Looking for next week and breaking 150 on the way to 135.
12-27-2019 14 weeks in - decided not to fight the holidays and wanted to eat some good food. I'm being careful not to slide back too much, but before the week is done, I'll get back on my schedule.
1-3-2020 15 Weeks in - back on schedule and down to 150.8. Getting closer to 150. Down to the 4th notch on my belt. Noticing the difference in my collar button...looser!
1-10-2020 16 Weeks in - UNDER 150 lbs!! 149.6. Less than 15 lbs. to go to goal weight of 135. Belly and tummy smaller, clothes fit much better and older clothes that I "grew out of" I can wear again...don't need a shopping spree (yet) but might need some alterations. ONWARD to goal.
