This was going to raise awareness & money to put towards Harrison's transplant funding, His medical needs, constant essentials replacement of personal items ( bedding) & to donate altered clothes for Prematures & New Borns Babies in the PMH & King Edward Memorial IICU (Infants Intensive Care Unit) that have semi Permanent & Permanent IV drips & Central Lines in their limbs & heads. Harrison, Mysel
f & Matt (Mummy & Daddy) flew to Melbourne last November (2011) to seek further medical advise for Harrison’s bowl/Intestine transplant. Whilst we were there we learnt that this type of surgery would in fact shorten his life expectancy to 6-12 months ( from 5-6 year expectancy) . This procedure is performed rarely as the survival rate is extremely low (as the body rejects the bowl). Harrison would also be put at major risk of infections & face many months bed ridden & in thus be put at risk of blood poisoning & many other diseases. As Harrison is extremely susceptible to these illnesses Matt & myself have decided against the surgery & chose against harming or killing Harrison. As we are in a small minority & have no guide to follow we are frequently are left in the dark as to how long we have Harrison here for, We are un-sure of what to expect. So far we have had to face many heart wrenching decisions & they have all turned out for the best as our little guy is still here & fighting the odds! He has over come multiple line infections (blood poisoning), he has “brittle bone” & has had broken ribs, (from vomiting), A broken leg & fractured arm (weak bones from a calcium deficiency). Recently contracted Pertussis (Whooping cough). he has had 4 major surgeries & around 31 Broviac line (similar to a permanent IV drip) repairs which is performed under GA in theater. This is just to name a few things. We received just over $1100 dollars in donations, this we put towards a new bed & bedding for Harrison. He now has around 20 sets of bedding which is about 3 days supply. We have also put it towards mattresses as Harrison vomits frequently. We thank everyone for their support & constant well wishes, Matt & myself have remained optimistic during this journey & have learnt so many things. We have the best end result & that is a little guy to put to bed every night. Our moto is & has been “what ever it takes”. We will fight for his life everyday & continue to support & nurse our little man. Our Harrison is our world & We are so grateful that we were blessed with a little brother for him back in 2010. The two boys Harrison & Lucas are of best’s friends & keep each other happy during the long hospital visits. Both boys are in Early Learning two days a week & are doing so well. Please continue to follow his story & watch our little guy grow strong with us. Thank you for your add!
