Two Saturdays ago on a whim that morning I ventured out to the Charlotte Vegfest to capture a talk by Leah Garces of Mercy For Animals & The Transfarmation Project. A friend tipped me off on the prospect a few days prior. But, with still so much to edit from my recent Ethos Primary Care run in Jersey for 10 days I couldn't really commit. But I couldn't shake thinking about how awesome The Transfarmation Project sounded and how it sounded so similar to the work I captured at Ethos. I'm so glad I did this last minute. I"m also grateful to Jameka Whitten for making sure this years VegFest not only happened but also in an awesome, unique location and with great success! And thanks for putting up with me slipping in there last minute. Sorry for not giving ya a heads up... My work is so exhausting that it's hard to really take the time to plan things in advance since I do all this free, alone, and often times may not commit until the last minute. It's the best I can do under these circumstances to avoid adding pressure to an already overwhelming passion project that all too often leaves me in a dark place. It's beautiful, powerful, change makers like Leah and Jameka, organizations like Mercy for Animals, Transfarmation, & Ethos that give me hope for Charlotte, our country and far beyond. It's an honor to have Leah in the VeganLinked mix and hope to cross paths again!

With all that's been going on between no power for several days, traveling, being out of town for 10 days 12 hours from home, doing a little volunteer work right before that, I got pretty behind with editing and what not. I had a lot scheduled to release in advance and this one almost slipped by before I had a chance to share here after it published. Sarina's doing such awesome work in her community and beyond. It's so awesome to follow her as a lifelong vegan and lifelong activist.

I had to cut this quick today. I've been derailed from editing due to hurricane Helene and other things going on this week. And prior to the hurricane I was 12 hours from home at Ethos for 10 days doing video work and this was one of those videos I shot during my time there in New Jersey.

I didn't have time to proof this video or ask anyone else to so I hope it's good enough to go! Anywho, I'm back at editing now hard core full swing again.

Yesterday's release, no meat in over 30 years, Kurt, owner of Freakin' Vegan, shares his story with me impromptu while I was passing essentially through. I was in town to do an interview way north Jersey with a mother of several vegan children who runs a daycare. We were going to do the interview at her daycare on a Friday evening. I had to arrive at a very specific time when she was done for the day and had a narrow window to work in. But after I setup there was construction outside that suddenly started and it was just too loud. So, we decided it would be best to try again in the morning. I had nowhere to go so I just mapped a vegan restaurant near me. The first and closest place wasn't entirely vegan and the owner wasn't. So, I figured I'd keep looking. That's when I finally found this gem, Freakin Vegan! I was EXHAUSTED and had been gone from home for over a month doing interviews, videographing incredible presentations at Ethos Farm to Health, etc... So, I grabbed something to eat and did this interview quick and then had to find somewhere to sleep. I tried sleeping in my car at the daycare but that was not working at all. I eventually found a hotel kind of far from the daycare and it was so worth it. Pheeewww.... thinking back, that was a rough night. All wasn't lost though. The interview the next day was pretty decent. And I was able to squeeze in this interview with Kurt quick :)

This will presentation on "The Unexpected Lives of Insects" by Jonathan Balcombe, author is going to be so cool in the mix of releases alongside Dr Milton Rene Mills talk on Flowers and Lee Hall's talk on the Anthropocene. Some of these were a lot more tedious to cut because some of these rooms didn't offer a way for me to tap into the projector to grab the powerpoint/keynote. So, I have to manually work the slides in... Anywho, almost caught up enough to schedule publishing content to release while I'm on the next run...

I loved this town SO MUCH, the people, the food, so chill, smaller than my s*** town yet somehow a million times better vibes with so many incredible vegan options from restaurants to a kava bar to a soup kitchen to an awesome veg fest and juxtaposed to Maharishi Vedic City and some of the sweetest, coolest people you could ever meet like Pia, co-owner of Mira's Cafe 💚💪💚
