Welcome to the new Florida Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Page! We've joined forces with the "Save Medical Lab Science Group". We have united to become the FSCLS "Lab Science Movement"! Our aim is to become a hub for clinical laboratory science. It will affect 1 in 75 women and kill 14,000 women in the USA in 2017.

It works in mysterious ways but is formed by a change in DNA, called a genetic or inherited mutation.

It has greater prevalence in white women than African-American women.

It represents more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system.

Ron Van Noorden - Lifetime Honorary Member of The Histochemical Society

In recognition of Cornelis J. F. (Ron) Van Noorden's contributions to both the scientific field and The Society, the Histochemical Society was pleased to honor him, at the recent 2017 meeting, with the status of Honorary Lifetime Member. He joins current Honorary Members, Paul Nakane, Marilyn Farquhar, Morris Karnovsky and Shan-Rong Shi (also elected in 2017).

Ron Van Noorden, is a Dutch cell biologist and histologist who specializes in quantitative histochemistry and cytochemistry. He is a a Past-President of HCS and an Associate Editor of the 'Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry.' Ron has been a strong advocate and leader for The Histochemical Society.

Dr. Van Noorden has received many prizes for his research and service to HCS and the international scientific community including the Robert Feulgen Prize of the Society for Histochemistry in 1987, the Piet van Duijn Prize of the International Federation of Societies for Histochemistry and Cytochemistry (IFSHC) in 1996, the David Glick Award of the IFSHC in 2008, and the Gomori Award of the HCS in 2015.

He has published over 400 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is head of the Department of Cell Biology and Histology and Professor in those disciplines at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
