I had a client today who mentioned that drinking pickle juice helps to relieve his leg cramps. I did a little research and found that it is apparently a valid treatment. Massage therapy helps, too. ;)

Midway across the pool, my calf muscle seized up. I grabbed hold of the lane line, pulled my toes back towards my shin and waited for the charley horse to release.

Physical inactivity raises your risk of general ill health by 114 percent, your risk of Alzheimer’s disease by 82 percent and your risk of depression by 150 percent. 😯 We need at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise at least 5 days a week, so get up and move! Then, after starting a new exercise program, see your Massage Therapist and treat your sore muscles to a quicker recovery. 😁

If entire populations met the exercise guidelines of 30 minutes daily exercise, 5 percent of heart disease and 8 percent of premature deaths could be prevented.

When I was first licensed as a Certified Massage Practitioner in California in 1987, there was at the time an intermediate Certification called "Natural Health Educator," which I achieved the following year. I still have a great interest in healthy living and share health-related articles on this page from time-to-time. I was surprised to learn today that almost all nail polish contains toxic chemicals which absorb into the body and can disrupt the endocrine system (your hormones). Some of these toxins have even been found in breast milk. :( Fortunately there are now several non-toxic brands of nail polish available, which are profiled at the end of the article.

A 2005 study demonstrated that massage therapy can reduce cortisol levels by an average of 31%, increase serotonin levels 28% and dopamine levels 21% on average. Similarly, another study in 2000 showed that diastolic blood pressure and hypertension decreased, and cortisol levels were reduced, after massage therapy. In other words, massage therapy helps you to feel better in many healthy ways.

By reducing cortisol and bringing about a state of relaxation and reducing anxiety, depression, and tension from acute and chronic life events – massage therapy can be a heart healthy addition to our self-care regimes.

This article clearly explains why and how essential oils affect both physical and psychological functions in the body.

Did you know that our sense of smell is the only sense directly tied to the limbic area of the brain, which is considered the emotional control center? This means that when essential oils are inhaled, they go directly to the brain. Our other four senses — taste, sight, touch,...More

Acupuncture is a proven, effective pain remedy. Before I knew I needed hip surgery, one Acupuncture treatment eliminated my hip pain for a full two weeks. I was amazed and delighted. When I returned for another treatment my Dr. suggested we X-Ray the hip because the pain was not supposed to have returned.

Research shows acupuncture can be an effective option for a number of health problems, but pain in particular.

My Story

MASSAGE THERAPY: I use a "Client-Centered Approach" to healing, using skills acquired from my training in Swedish Massage, Acupressure-Massage, Jin Shin Do Acupressure, and Polarity Therapy. I am currently taking time away from my massage therapy practice and reorganizing my future. Years of repetitive use have weakened the joints in my hands and so I am transitioning into practicing kinder, gentler energy healing work. I’m brushing up on my Acupressure skills and learning Reiki, which I am very excited about! In the meantime you can catch me at my other Facebook location: https://www.facebook.com/DancingTreeArtistry/
