The Health Select Committee has published evidence about the effect of diet and exercise on health. It states that:
"The UK Faculty of Public Health argues that "for cardiovascular disease prevention, there is clear evidence that the Mediterranean diet, even just a handful of nuts and or liberal consumption of olive oil, is effective, and could lead to a rapid 30% reduction in deaths & non-fatal events. Furthermore, this demonstrates that a healthy diet is more powerful than statins."
