S P O T L I G H T on Luminous Birds
📍Temple Gardens, Bristol

Luminous Birds animates a flock of origami-style birds suspended overhead. As night falls, synchronised lighting sequences and music create the effect of birds flying overhead. The action of many birds, flocking together, is one of nature’s most amazing phenomenon – an ultimate act of cooperation, hundreds moving together in harmony.

This beautiful artwork is created by audio visual Kathy Hinde whose work represents a cross between kinetic sound sculptures and newly invented instruments.

Looking for an original Christmas present idea? Or music to listen to over the festive period?

Introducing ‘In the Master’s Love’ (a short piano solo) by Rosemary Duxbury. Available as and to download.

This favourite, melodic and uplifting piece has been performed around Europe and in America and is popular with amateurs and professionals alike.

In America, former world professional ice-skating champion Lorna Brown choreographed this piece for skating. Other collaborations include Rosemary performing it with a video projection by international video artist, Kathy Hinde, at the Lotus Foundation, London. Kathy also performed the piece regularly at the beautiful Pump Rooms in Bath, England.
Swiss concert pianist Patricia Siffert regularly performs it internationally.

Recently Katharine Lam (senior lecturer in piano at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) performed it at the Weymouth Lunchtime Concert Series in a programme alongside Schubert, Schumann, Bach and Saint-Saens.
It has been recorded by Patricia Siffert on the album “On Wings of Light”(Charasound) and by British concert pianist Julian Hellaby on the album “Music for a While’ (CCA).

An opportunity to hear Rosemary Duxbury's art song "Kabir says..." performed by German mezzo Bhawani Moennsad and pianist Simeon Ioannides, which was recently broadcast on Marvin Rosen's American Radio Show, Classical Discoveries: Viva 21st Century Music. 
The lyric is a poem by C15 mystic/poet Kabir translated by Bob Hays and this version was recorded in the Berlin State Opera House Rooms.
The programme is archived until Jan 28 and "Kabir says..." is played at 19 minutes into the programme. Here is the link to listen...
