Podcast /Podchat Tonight EDT!
Tonight's conversation will focus on why agencies seem to be stuck in neutral (or in reverse) despite the increasing urgency of the need for change. What would help create the courage to make difficult decisions, have hard conversations, and raise the bar instead of lowering it to accommodate toxic members or schedule deficiencies? Education opportunities: leadership, communication skills, and organizational management? Support from members, neighboring services, and municipal government?

What can those who are not in a position of authority do to effect change before they become another retention failure? How can they "deal" with the current environment while trying to address ongoing or increasing problems in the service?

Wednesday Podcast /chat @ 8pm EDT.
Tonight's topic was initially discussed in a previous podcast and continues to resonate as one of the most significant challenges facing EMS agencies today: the persistent presence of toxic, incompetent, or otherwise detrimental personnel.

Whether volunteer or career, these individuals often hinder the creation of a culture that values not only excellent patient care but also personal growth, teamwork, and pride in service. In many cases, a thorough vetting process could have prevented the issue from occurring in the first place.

Here's my perspective: remove them—Full Stop.
The long-term damage caused by these individuals far outweighs the short-term inconvenience of schedule gaps or the cost of unemployment benefits. These are not people you can “fix,” and allowing them to quietly leave often shifts the problem to another unsuspecting agency. Holding people accountable isn't harsh—it’s leadership.

If you’re fortunate enough not to be dealing with this issue, join us to learn how to keep it that way. If it hits close to home, let's discuss how to address the issue.

Podcast/chat 8pm EDT. Tonight's topic:
The direct correlation between why agencies fail, and how they manage the business of EMS and their personnel in the eyes of the public. Perception is reality when it comes to obtaining and keeping the trust and support of your community. If you bring a band-aid and goodwill to the conversation instead of a strategic plan and a budget, your agency is likely to lose the fight. I'll tie this in with last week's topic ( why toxic people remain), and discuss why so many agencies hold onto "magical thinking" instead of addressing the reality of what surrounds them and is looming in the background.
