I was there in California for the summer of love in 1967. I was at Woodstock in NY in 69. Everyone was healthy, full of life, vim and vigor. The world was a vast playground to spread music and be explored. No computers or cell phones. Now look at us; fat, sick, untrusting of each other and trying to cover it with cell phone filters, pills and distractions. The streets and parks are empty of kids. Do we need a new framework for humanity? Groups like ARC are doing something about it. (The Alliance for Responsible Citizenship)

If the practice of "PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE" were criminalized, I believe pollution would be cut in half quickly. This massively destructive way of producing and selling products, undoubtedly creates far, far more mining, pollution and garbage than any other single corporate practice. I can't understand how we allow this to continue in light of all the bluster about climate change. We can make products to last forever and if they do break every part should be replaceable or recyclable. The trash created by this practice is a crime against nature.

This is where the night-errant, Don Quixote (a man from La Mancha) is on his death bed after being overcome by his enemy. I just pasted this into the comments section of the DemocracyNow YouTube channel covering yet another story about hurricane Milton's mess in Florida. Feel free to share:
"Is it just my echo chamber or has Milton's destruction across the southern part of Florida - which will be built back in a heartbeat with so much money down there - has overshadowed the real devastation of Appalachia (the size of an entire European country the size of Belgium) from hurricane Helene that has wiped out towns and hundreds of small roads. Hundreds and maybe thousands of people lost and dying in the mountains. Some school systems are reporting 200+ children still missing. Hundreds of years of embedded American culture with some of America's oldest mountain farms, cottage industries, artisans and the inspiring stories and blended indigenous wisdom hundreds of years old, the the famous mountain music that blends the old Celtic/Scottish/Irish music with southern black blues, bluegrass and country. WHERE IS THE MEDIA!? I'm not a historian and I'm not even from there (from NY) but just the little I know tells me this was a serious blow to our cultural heritage. And the fact that it seems to have been so quickly overshadowed by just another hurricane in Florida really and truly saddens me. 😥 Hundreds of small mountain roads are gone. No one will ever know the body count since so many bodies are under literal mountains of earth, debris and rubble. Let's not just dismiss this as another ... oh well. Let's envision bringing back this culture; this time with respect and recognition for it's contribution to the creative soul of this country rooted in the earth. It feels like Gaia was just stabbed in her heart."
