Body was still sore from Sunday’s Body Pump class and Monday’s run. I probably should have taken a recovery day today. 🤦🏾‍♀️

I almost went home and drove by the YMCA because I didn’t exactly feel like running tonight, but it was the kind of day where I needed to run to get all the stress out of my body. I’m so glad I chose to run. I feel much better.

Meet Shayla

Shayla is a proud native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and is a 1997 graduate of Hopkinsville High School. Shayla is a 2001 graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky where she earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Government, and she is also a 2004 graduate of the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville where she earned a Juris Doctorate degree.

Shayla has always had a passion for physical well being for many years. With over 20 years of dance experience in tap, ballet, jazz, and modern, fitness was a natural fit for Shayla. In 2008, Shayla D. Johnson became a certified group fitness instructor and began teaching at local YMCA facilities, locally owned Curves franchises, and the Lexington Athletic Club.

In 2010, Shayla decided to further pursue her passion of helping everyone live healthier lives and founded "Shape It Up With Shayla," a fitness company whose mission is “To activate all of God’s children through physical fitness”. Shayla believes that fitness is a ministry that God has given her in order help His people live healthier lives.
