Incredible ride down dead mountain yesterday with my bro and my future wifey ❤️. Tough ride as I’ve never done that long of a downhill before. 5.4 miles to be exact but so much fun! @ Dead Mountain

Your nerves are designed to be able to stretch and retract when you move. If they can’t, it can produce pain, numbness and tingling, tightness, etc. I believe it can also contribute to restless leg syndrome. This sequence is designed to help your nerves move better, thus decreasing, or in some cases, alleviating these symptoms. Give it a try!

So...there are some potential drawbacks to committing to a plan, staying consistent and accountable. This text thread is from a girl I've been coaching for the past 8 weeks (and my coaching is FREE). This stuff works for absolutely anyone, anywhere, on any budget and with very little free time. How would it feel to be able to send a text like this? Need some free help? Just ask.

Hey guys! Here's a great yoga routine to help release the hips, hamstrings and lower back. Might come in especially handy if you're a guy like me that has tight hips and hamstrings. You'll need a strap of some sort (a belt or necktie will do) and either a yoga block, a pillow or folded up bath towel. This morning was my third time going through this routine and I'm loving it. There's still a few moves that struggle with but it's improving! If you try this one, come back and comment and let me know how it went.

Many women believe that the only way to lose weight is to do cardiovascular (aerobic exercise). So they jog or take aerobics classes five times a week. Eve

I believe this 110%...But what does this really mean?
It's not just about lifting heavier weight in the gym, or running 10 more miles, or doing 2 workouts a day instead of one. For most people, this just means going from NOTHING to SOMETHING. That zebra is YOU. That lion? That's disease, diabetes, a hip replacement, obesity, heart disease, a heart attack, a stroke, loss of mobility, loss of independence when you're older...I could go on and on. I see this everyday in my work. My job is to help zebras who have been attacked by lions. Many of the older people I work with grew up not knowing any better...but you and I? We know better. We know more now than we ever have about the importance of exercise and nutrition. If we KNOW better, then we should DO better, right? So why isn't everyone doing it? The lions are there, and they will always be there. What are you doing to avoid them? Every single person reading this has the ability to outrun their lions...but you have to put effort into training yourself to outrun a lion. Maybe for you all that means is taking a 20 minute walk 3-5 days a week and get off sodas and diet sodas. Maybe it means packing a healthy lunch for work instead of hitting up a fast-food place. Maybe you say "no" to the cinnamon rolls they brought to the office. Every daily decision you make regarding exercise and food is either making it easier or harder for the lion to catch you. If you need help, GO GET IT. If you are alive and reading this, then you can still change your health. Better make a decision...the lions are waiting

Two of my favorite moves from my workout this morning.
1. A single-arm row with opposite leg lift for 60 seconds on each arm
2. Forearm plank with knee drops for 60 seconds. Try to keep your pelvis level and still.

This is from the CHISEL ENDURANCE workout. We did two rounds of these (plus lots of other moves). Every move was 60 seconds. Not heavy weights but definitely lots of heavy breathing!

One of my favorite moves from my workout this morning. It's a reverse lunge, biceps curl, into a triceps kickback. I really appreciate exercises that incorporate multiple muscle groups at the same time. I'm using 15 # Dumbbells in this video. Goal is 15 reps on each leg. From beginning to end of each lunge is one rep. Give it a try and see what you think

And just like that...POOF, January's gone. Can you believe it?

End of January is right about the time my New Years resolutions always started falling apart, especially when it came to staying consistent with my nutrition and fitness. By Valentine's Day, it was all over. Back to square one.

Not this time. I'm excited to be able to say I'm 21/21 days of staying on track. Kinda makes me feel like a badass (this pic is my attempt at actually looking like a badass haha). I've learned through years of trial and error that I HAVE to have a plan or I get lost. I fall off track. Staying consistent isn't any easier for me than it is for anyone else. I need a map. There's almost nothing I hate more than putting time and effort into something and not getting out of it what I wanted. Then I have to start over or try something else. I HATE wasting my time and money! Don't you?

I finally found something that eliminates all the barriers I had before...lack of time, cost, lack of accountability, no guarantee of results. All I have to do is follow the plan.

Are you still on track with your health and fitness resolutions? Are you seeing results? How much are you spending? How much time does it require? Is it going to get you the results you want?

Have you given up?

Maybe you're ready to try something different. I decided to try something different and it finally worked. The results you're looking for could be only 60 days away. Want help? Just ask. You can go at it solo or join a group with me starting Valentine's Day. Whatever you decide to do, don't give up. Just don't give up.

Here's my recipe for Ceviche. Really love how easy this recipe is. Enjoy!

Ceviche

• 2 lbs fish (I prefer Cod or Mahi Mahi. Some recipes use Tilapia but that’s not even a real species so I stay away from it). You can use almost any white fish
• 1 cup lime juice (about 6-8 limes worth)
• 1 cup chopped tomato
• ½ cup finely chopped onion
• 1/3 cup finely chopped cilantro
• Salt and pepper
• ½ cup Clamato juice (optional)
• 1 tbsp. of your favorite hot sauce (optional) I like Louisiana Hot Sauce myself.
• 1 serrano chile (optional. I didn’t use this cuz I’m a wuss when it comes to spicy stuff)
• Half avocado pitted, peeled and thinly sliced
• 1 lime cut into wedges

Preparing the fish: The fish should be finely diced. This is easier to do if the fish is partially frozen and using a very sharp knife. Place the fish (still raw) in a gallon Ziploc freezer bag (freezer bags tend to be more heavy duty and less likely to leak). Add all lime juice. Squeeze as much air out of bag as possible, seal and place in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.

Remove fish from refrigerator and drain lime juice by gently squeezing fish with hands and place on a plate or large bowl. The fish has now been “cooked” by the lime juice and should appear white. Add onion, cilantro, and tomato. If using, add Clamato, chile and hot sauce. Salt and pepper to taste.

Add sliced avocado on top with 1-2 lime wedges on the side.

Traditionally ceviche is eaten in a tortilla or on a tostada. I chose not to eat those because they aren’t good for you. If you want to eat in a tortilla or on a tostada, knock yourself out, but be warned that it makes this recipe not as healthy. I ate it straight outta the bowl!

Enjoy!

Now this is powerful...I did this in my own life, very recently in fact. My parachute hasn't fully opened just yet but I have full faith that it will. And if it doesn't, I'll climb back to the top of that cliff, or maybe one even higher, and I'll jump again. And again. And again.

Oftentimes starting a new health or fitness endeavor can be VERY difficult if your partner isn't on board. I'm so grateful that Alyson and I are on the same page when I comes to our workouts and nutrition. Here's a great article for anyone that may be having trouble getting your "other half" on board with you

How Do I Get My Partner to Get Fit with Me? People often ask me how to get their partner and/or their entire family on board when they decide to form healthier habits and adopt a fit lifestyle. Getting others to join you in your new, healthy ways works best when you include them in […]

Back to it after 7 days of eating my way through Nashville TN. Today's workout didn't come easy. I'm just worn out from all the traveling, beer and food. My workout wasn't as strong as it typically is, but I just pushed as hard as I could and got through it. This is literally what I told myself right before I started my workout...consistency beats content EVERYTIME. Always remember that when you're deciding to workout or not. I'll take a half-ass workout over no workout any day. Have a great Monday you guys!

A portion of a letter that one of my patients gave me on my last day as director of my previous clinic. Several of my patients gave me cards and such, but this letter really stood out to me. This woman was always so insightful and wise. I feel very grateful to have met people like this, and I look forward to those I'll meet in the future.

So I'm back from 5 days in Vegas...It’s time for me to change up my workouts and clean up my eating (the last couple weeks have been a lil dirty). Figured there may be some other people out there who would want to do that too. I wanna put a group together, mostly to help me stay motivated and on track with both my workouts and eating. I wanna start on Monday July 7th (because that gives me plenty of time to get myself mentally ready, and I plan on having a good time over July 4th weekend :-). Dynamic of the group is simple…choose an exercise regimen you want to follow, and I’ll provide tips on clean eating, shopping lists, recipes, etc. I’m going to try out the new program PiYO…it’s a super low impact fusion of pilates and yoga (and it’s only 60 days, which I can def handle) and focuses primarily on strength and flexibility, which I need in a bad way. I’m kinda needing the low impact right now too cuz my left knee is acting a little stupid. If you’re interested in joining the group let me know. And feel free to invite your friends to join. Sticking to a program is always easier when you do it with friends or family. Oh, and if you’ve had accountability issues in the past when trying to start or stick to a fitness or nutrition goal, I’m beta testing a new accountability approach in this group that I think is going to change the game for a lot of people, including myself. Maybe we should name the group INDEPENDENCE CHALLENGE (in honor of July 4th of course)…Who’s ready?
