Day hike from the AMC Zealand Falls hut in the White Mountains of NH.

A few days off the grid, moving my body, spending uninterupted time with my husband, immersed in gorgeous forest and meeting other hikers. So good for the body, mind amd spirit. Ahhh, I feel replenished.

It was our anniversary two days ago and what a perfect way to spend it since Rich and I met on an Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) NY-NoJ Chapter hike a little over 24 years ago. That organization does so much to take care of our planet and provide opportunities for people to come together in community to enjoy the outdoor.

Thank you to all the workers and volunteers who run the huts in the White Mountains. It’s a very special experience.

Coming in January 2027!! Can you guess where? Here are some photos I took there over 30 years ago.

I experienced the raw, magnificent natural world like never before. That trip changed me for life.
The vast landscapes, incredible wildlife, and warmth of its people left a mark I’ve carried ever since. Now, I’m thrilled to be planning an adventure here for January 2027.

This time around, the accommodations will be far more comfortable and the itinerary thoughtfully refined. But the heartbeat of the land, the awe of the wildlife, and the richness of the culture will remain just as unforgettable.

The interest list will open soon, and I’ll be heading back this January to finish my research.
