Hello, Sharks! We are glad to be back and hoping you are having an amazing summer! ☀️🦈

We are excited to share that this past weekend July 17-20th, our APhA-ASP NSU at Puerto Rico Chapter President and President-Elect attended the APhA-ASP Summer Leadership Institute at Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. They participated in leadership workshops while learning about innovative initiatives to implement within our chapter. Most importantly, they advocated for the future of Pharmacy in Puerto Rico by meeting with representatives about Ensuring Community Access to Pharmacy Services (ECAPS) and PBM reforms. 🤩💊

We are very proud to announce that last Friday May 2nd, 2025 our qualifying members were recognized and awarded with APhA-ASP graduation cords during their Senior Luncheon. These cords symbolize our students’ commitment with the pharmacy profession and their compromise as part of the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists. 🤝🏻💊

Thank you for your active participation and dedication within the NSU APhA-ASP Puerto Rico Chapter. Congratulations to our seniors and on to new horizons! 🎉🎓🦈

Myth or Reality? 🤔
Debunking myths related to OTC medications is of utmost importance to ensure patient safety and maintain medication effectiveness while preventing adverse outcomes. 💊

Remember:
✅ Ask and/or inform your healthcare providers about OTC medication usage and consult their appropriateness. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
✅ Follow the instructions found in the product packaging. 👀
❌ Avoid storing your medications in places such as the bathroom. 🚫
❌ If the packaging indicates the product is for adults only, avoid giving them to children. 🚫👧👦

As pharmacists, we are always available to answer any questions and address concerns about your medications. Your safety and wellbeing are our priority! ✨❤️ Many thanks to the OTC Medicine Safety Committee for helping raise awareness and debunk some common misconceptions about these non-prescription products. 🤩
