Ntc dispensary Kaliro HEALTH INFORMATION PAGE Introduction
The practice of medicine is an art and a science, and is evolving daily as new discoveries are made.

Each individual medical provider is responsible for the individual medical care provided to each patient. Each provider must assess the patient and determine the specific clinical needs and most appropriate treatment for that patient. The need for medical care has been a constant since the day the dispensary was started several years ago. Concern for the health of students has, from the beginning, been a part of NTC’s history. The dispensary was established to care for sick students and staffs at NTC. The dispensary has an admission capacity of only four beds and an outpatient section where students and NTC staffs are seen on a daily basis. The dispensary staffs that sleep close to the dispensary have made real-time access to medical consultation nearly always available. The main focus of the dispensary is prevention. Prevention, of both acute and chronic disease, will improve the quality of the students and staff’s life while at NTC, and also many years into service and or retirement. Prevention will also maximize the productivity of the crew and its ability to meet its missions. It also focuses on diagnosing and treating medical and surgical conditions of all ages while emphasizing preventative medicine and the overall health and wellness of the NTC community. The dispensary utilizes the inadequate available medical equipment and trained staff that are able to optimize the care of each patient amidst enormous challenges. The dispensary currently has three medical staffs that are charged with offering medical services to the staffs and students at the college. Mission
The mission of the dispensary is to promote the health and well-being of the students and staffs by providing adequate, free, accessible and high-quality medical care. Objectives
The objectives for the dispensary operations include:
• To promote, maintain and uphold a high standard of medical care at NTC
• Encourage good health habits.
• Encourage good relationship between dispensary staff, other staffs and students.
• Coordinate and carryout community based health activities in advocating for patients rights.
• To create a medical practice that will exceed patients' expectations.
• To provide high-quality health care to students and NTC staff.
• To create a medical practice that helps serve the community's needs.
• To form a health care practice that is able to survive off its limited resources available.
• To develop a comprehensive website that includes online consultation capability to the patients, as well as additional information about the practice, time, demographic information and health information.
• To eliminate all preventable diseases like typhoid, malaria, stress and headache among others. SERVCES OFFERD AT THE DISPENSARY
In general, the dispensary provides general care for all in the NTC community, as well as providing multiple procedures to create complete health care solutions. The dispensary philosophy is that optimal health and performance can be attained through the proper balance of exercise, nutrition, and education. Our goal is to educate our clients as well as treat them. Therefore, our services will soon include group classes and teaching sessions for our students and staffs. Our staffs focus on each individual case. After each procedure and where appropriate, each patient is offered education on rehabilitation, nutrition and exercise as it relates to each particular condition. This in turn creates the best-rounded experience for each patient in order to optimize their health. The dispensary staffs also maintain privacy according to ethical rules. All patients are welcome. No one is turned down for medical care. Our centre is to hold no prejudice to race, creed, color or socioeconomic status. The dispensary plans to offer health promotion through health education, mass education, inter sectoral collaboration, sparks news paper and community participation like community cleaning. We are also planning to start provide other services like HIV/AIDS counselling and testing, psycho social counselling and guidance, rapid diagnostic malaria testing among others depending on the administration response to our proposals. Note: Prevention remains the best approach to case management. It might be hard now, but it's all worth it in the end.
