Joy Hawk Nutrition For those of you who don't know me, please allow me to introduce myself and share a bit of my story with you. I'm a Mom to three kids. Whatever that means.

A holistic nutritionist, and Mama of three, who broke the cycle of disordered eating and has a passion for teaching Mamas how to get this one area of parenting right.

and gaining 85 lbs with my first pregnancy, I realized I needed some help around body image issues. It was there I realized health was my priority. When my eldest daughter was born at 6 lbs, we were told she possibly had "failure to thrive." She was extremely shy and anxious, had severe eczema that landed her in the ER twice, had stomach aches, sleep issues and was sick often with strep, ear infections, croup and colds. It was because of her that I threw myself into learning everything I could about feeding children, nutrition, and health. I went to doctor after doctor and they all told me her issues were normal and she would grow out of it. Deep down, I knew there was something going on and was determined to find the answer. SHE IS MY WHY. I did everything "wrong" with her, but you cannot do better when you don't know better. She tells me she is my practice child. I enrolled in nutrition school. I went to ten day long seminars. I changed pediatricians. I experimented with her diet. When my second child was born, I did things a little differently. By the time my third was born, I had gone over the top into crunchy Mama mode. We removed almost all environmental toxins from the house. I made his baby formula from scratch and drove myself to adrenal fatigue with a nursing/pumping/homemade food making schedule because my daughter was also on GAPS. I made bone broth, granola bars from scratch, ground my own flour, made my own yogurt, dehydrated kale chips, sprouted grains and nuts, fermented things. In my effort to fix our health with food, I made myself sick. And I was missing out on so much of what I had fought for because I spent all my time in the kitchen. So now I do the best I can to straddle both worlds. Optimal nutrition is still a core value of mine and I'm passionate about teaching it to others who want to learn. However, I struggle with finding balance just like any other Mama of three...the balance of spending time with my kids and husband and still finding the "me" time I deeply need. The balance of eating a whole foods, gluten-free diet (I really should be egg and dairy free but that doesn't always work out) while being on the run with three kids. The balance of my own self care and caring for my kids. I share my journey here on my FB page. I will always share my truth with you. I will not judge your imperfections and ask that you not judge mine. I look forward to getting to know you should you choose to hang out here with me.

There has been so much going on behind the scenes with me the past two years and I’ve been seeking like-minded community to talk about it, process it, and sometimes just hear that I’m not alone.

I looked all over the internet for a resource and to my shock, there really isn’t one.

Not for holistic moms.

TONS of resources exist for holistic pregnancy, birth, babies, feeding, toddlers but it’s a cavernous dessert for teen resources.

There is nobody shining a light on how our teenagers are a mirror for some of our own deepest wounding. Nobody talking about how hard it is to let go and WHY.

I teamed up with my friend Renee Jayne and we decided to change that.

To be clear, we are NOT parenting experts. We are two holistic practitioners navigating the choppy waters of teen parenting and wanting to share our stories, perspective and hindsight.

The first four episodes drop early next week.

Cooking this dinner and the salt bath that followed was exactly what my soul needed tonight. What are you doing to stay grounded right now? Do you need some support?

Healing isn't linear.⁣
Healing takes time.⁣

Four years ago when I first got activated I felt like I got hit by a truck. ⁣

At the time, I had no idea what a herxheimer reaction meant. ⁣

I feel like I've gone down the rabbit hole of health since then and learned things they never taught me in nutrition school. ⁣

I've been frustrated and hyper focused on what wasn't working more times than I can count.⁣

It was really that rash in my armpits that drove me to dig deep. ⁣

I was embarrassed how it looked, and so, so tired of itching.⁣

It was a big reason why I yanked my implants out in 2016.⁣

I've spent the past year focused on opening up my detox pathways. ⁣

(Stagnant bile, blood, breath, bowels or lymph is never OK.)⁣

I've spent the last three months focused on mindset -- what I WANT, versus what I don't.⁣

I've removed mold, taken supplements, cried, visualized, released trauma.⁣

I was consistent and relentless with my goal of feeling better.⁣

That armpit rash I had? ⁣
It's GONE! ⁣

(Swipe for before and after.)⁣

It took a ton of education, patience and biohacking, but I did it. 😃 ⁣

The world is healing. I believe that. And the lessons are the same. ❤️

I've been craving dense nutrition for days so I whipped this up and it totally hit the spot.

➡ Chia pudding topped with frozen wild blueberries, razpberry, banana, chopped Brazil nuts, chocolate chips, shredded coconut + cinnamon.

Last fall I felt like I got thrown to the wolves. The hurt I felt led me to turn inward and become deeply introverted. To stop trusting. To stop sharing. I did not want to be seen. I felt the need to protect myself.

But when you make decisions out of fear and pain, you lead yourself to a place of stagnation.

When you stay in your comfort zone you stop growing and thriving.

A mentor challenged me to share my heart online again. To tell my story over the next 30 days.

I'm ready to stop licking my wounds -- to take my power back.

I got knocked down, but I did not get knocked out. ✌

LOVING the sacred + peaceful space my office is becoming as I work towards to goal of TRUE FREEDOM.✨

In order to achieve a goal, you have to first define it. So I've been working on defining what freedom means to me.

I've realized it is more than just setting my own schedule -- I want show up for my biz because it is FUN, not because there is pressure to meet certain requirements every month.

It's extremely important to me to have the ability to make whatever choices necessary to support + protect our health. This natural lifestyle can get expensive and I need to see my income grow as a result of my work ethic.

Travel and adventure feeds my soul. Having the ability to take my map-obsessed son to every single place he asks to go is such a big part of my why. But REAL freedom is doing so without stress.

Working from home is supposed to create MORE time with my kids and family -- not be a reason to be attached to my phone 24/7. Building a big business can be done in a way that allows for more freedom, not more work.

If you are feeling frustration with where you are in your own life, know that frustration is typically a sign of stagnation / avoiding your next phase of growth. Trust me, I've spent a lot of time in that stagnated spot. While the journey to the other side wasn't easy, I'm deeply grateful to have arrived on the other side.

So don't mind me -- I'm just gonna sit here in my pjs and build the freedom I want right from that cozy spot on that couch. 🔥 I can do it faster and better the second time because I learn from my mistakes. ✌ If you are curious about what I'm doing, all you have to do is ask.

31/12/2017

I want to thank you for being a part of my life in 2017. It was a year of healing and self growth for me. It wasn't at all what I thought it would be but exactly what I needed.

Some of us lost loved ones,

Faced aggressive health challenges,

Endured relationship challenges, or

Financial difficulties.

I believe our paths do not cross by accident and I know there is a reason for you to be in my life. If we haven't yet connected, please feel free to reach out.

My 2018 wish for you is....

You and your family to have inner happiness. HAPPINESS COMES FROM WITHIN -- it is not based on a number on a scale or in a bank account, nor is it offered from professional success. Trust me, I've learned this the hard way. ✋

Before you run off into 2018 remember life does not go without struggle, for ANYONE. ✋ Challenge is a guarantee. It’s going to show up in all areas of your life this year. What matters is how you react to it.

Remember the only thing you have control over is YOU and how YOU respond.

Anything outside of YOU is outside of YOUR control. Develop your ability to turn to faith instead of worry over things you have zero control over.

By doing so you will regain your personal power instead of giving it away to the person or situation that try’s to bring you turbulence. This was a very powerful lesson for me in 2017. ✋

Let the universe know only the outcome you seek (not your struggle you face) as it is faithful and will send you whatever vibration you send it.

Learn to manage your thoughts.

I wish for You GREAT HEALTH. It’s EVERYTHING and without that we have nothing! Please stop taking it for granted and take steps to looking at and learning about:

What you put in/on your body - your health is your biggest and best investment.

What you say to yourself - you be kind to you.

Look after you, take time out to recharge and revitalize your soul - you cannot give what you do not have. ✋

I also wish for you ....

That you have clear cut goals in all
areas of your life that you wish to achieve in 2018. Wrote them down. Make a plan. Ask for help.

I know how MUCH some of you want and need to achieve those goals. ✋

Biggest lesson I've learned?

👉Don’t be desperate to achieve the goal -- don’t PUSH for it. Instead work to attract it. There is a difference!

Jim Rohan said, "Your level of success will rarely succeed your level of personal development because success is something you attract by the person you become."

Have faith in your heart And DO THE WORK required. Don't be afraid to invest in yourself be it time or money.

It’s GOING TO HAPPEN!

I am declaring 2018 the best year ever. All we require is already within us. Let's stop looking around and instead commit to digging deep inside ourselves. ✌✨❤

Three years ago this week a friend of mine died in her sleep. Our kids were the same age. We had our first babies within weeks of each other.

What made her passing so hard was I knew it was coming -- not in the way you know when a doctor tells you, but because she had asked for my help.

Like I did with everyone, I asked her to give me a food journal - so I understood why she had the symptoms she did.

Unfortunately, changing your nutrition is hard when it's new, it's expensive and you are tired and don't feel well. At the time, I didn't have the tools to help her in the way I knew she needed. I didn't have a baby enough step to meet her where she needed.

She asked for my help and I failed her.

The guilt I carry is heavy. I wish I did more. Maybe if I had been more direct with her the outcome would have been different.

I'm not a salesperson.
I'm a person who is passionate about health and helping people get better.

Scientific breakthroughs happen all the time. Health isn't as hard or time consuming as it used to be.

I don't have to grind my own flour.
I don't have to make everything myself.
I don't have to watch people die anymore -- be it diet OR stress.

There IS a solution......

It isn't hard.
It isn't cost prohibitive.
It doesn't taste bad.
You don't have to cook it.

If I suggest it to you, please know that it's because I don't ever want to wonder what might be different if I hadn't been afraid to be honest and use my voice.

Young Moms shouldn't die in their sleep.

And I need to stop being afraid to offer help because I'm afraid someone will think I'm out for my own benefit vs. theirs. ✌

I know wild blueberries are all the rage -- I had them for breakfast this morning. (And just like any other antioxidant, they aren't an effective way to REALLY achieve the results you want.)

Stick with me here...

We drink green juice, eat kale, take vitamin C and do all the other things we do because we are told they are good for us and we want to be healthy.

And they are healthy, BUT...
..what nobody explained is antioxidants work on a 1:1 ratio. What that means is ONE blueberry fights off ONE free radical.

We are exposed to 300 septillion free radicals PER DAY (on average). Consuming antioxidants as a method of obtaining optimal health is sort of like trying to put out a forest fire with a dixie cup of water -- and IT ISN'T GOING TO WORK.

In a few years this information will be common knowledge and "antioxidant" isn't going to be a cool marketing buzzword anymore. (What sounds cooler -- taxi or uber?)

And before you say I'm full of crap, let me remind you...

📱a couple decades ago people would have thought carrying a hand held computer everywhere you go was nuts.

💻14 years ago nobody had heard of FB

🚕 5 years ago I stood in the rain for 30 minutes annoyed that I couldn't hail a cab because I thought uber was creepy.

Things change. New breakthroughs happen. You can be on the inside riding the wave or standing there watching it pass you by. ✨

Entrepreneurs, wellness junkies and those with FOMO should hit me up below. ✌
