This Christmas, something as simple as a handwritten card meant everything💌

As part of Hollie's ongoing social prescribing work with care homes, students from University of Chester UoC Volunteering & Mentoring wrote Christmas cards for residents at a Chester care home and the response was truly moving.

Many residents were touched to tears, feeling remembered and cared for. For some, it was the simple joy of knowing that someone had taken the time to think of them and wish them well.

This initiative isn’t just for Christmas, it’s an ongoing project, with students also writing cards at other times of the year such as Easter, helping to reduce loneliness and strengthen intergenerational connection in our community.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, including Chester South Primary Care Network- PCN and Fountains Medical Practice Chester Care Homes, for supporting meaningful moments like these that have such a powerful impact.

The end of the year always sparks a time for reflection. Over the Christmas period, we’ll be sharing a series of videos digging into our archives, taking a moment to reflect on, celebrate, and feel proud of the incredible work we’ve been part of throughout the year.

Starting with the Active Buggies group we set up as part of the Active Travel project funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council UK Government a couple of years ago. This group aimed to promote active travel in the port, in this case 'wheeling' which encouraged parents with young children to go out for a weekly walk and socialise with other mums!

We joined the local parents of Ellesmere Port for a walk around Whitby Park & a warm drink at Theatre Porto! This group is a fantastic opportunity to get out...

We had a fantastic afternoon yesterday at telfordswarehouse for our Christmas lunch and a festive wreath making workshop with mayflowerbloom_davenham 🎄 it was great to enjoy some delicious food, and get creative as we wind down for Christmas 🎅🏼

We’re proud to have been selected as one of the organisations funded through Innovate UK’s £2.5 million investment to scale innovation in community-led approaches to improving health outcomes across the UK!
