Here are five ways you can combat anxiety:
1. Minimize Exposure to Triggers: Identify the things that cause you to feel anxious and try your best to separate yourself from them. This could mean limiting your time certain people, places, and things that could all contribute to increased anxiety.
2. Increase Your Sleep: Establishing a consistent sleep schedule and getting more sleep could reduce levels of anxiety and stress.
3. Find Your People: Connecting with others and having social support can be extremely beneficial when battling anxiety. Reach out to friends, family, or a therapist that you trust who can support you when you are in need.
4. Get Active: When your body is getting regular exercise it releases dopamine, endorphin and other healthy chemicals into your brain. Even if it is as little as going for a walk, at least 30 minutes of exercise a day will decrease levels of anxiety.
5. Develop Mindfulness: Anxiety tends to take you away from the present moment. Training your brain to find its way back to what is happening right in front of you will be a great tool to use when combatting anxiety. Deep breathing, exercising, meditation and yoga are only a few ways that you can develop mindfulness. Find what works best for you.
