Friends and Supporters of Transforming Teachers:
It is with great sadness we share that Judy Darling- founder and master cultivator of compassion- passed away on March 3rd, 2019.

Just days before she passed, her sister-in-law presented her with this special tribute from the State of Michigan in honor of her work in Early Childhood. It was an incredible moment and Judy was so very touched. We hope you will continue her mission to support early childhood teachers, children, and families...as her training said, It All Starts with You!

Thank you for your support of Transforming Teachers over the years. Please feel free to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences in the comments below and we will be sure to share with her family. ❤️

Reflective Listening
July 12, 2018
Learning is not wisdom; information does not guarantee good judgment.
-John Dewey

Kathleen Grey, in the Exchange article, “Not in Praise of Praise,” describes what happened when she first learned about reflective listening. “This is a respectful and reflective communication style…I discovered that reflecting back to children what they are doing, and what I perceive that they are feeling, reinforces their sense of themselves in such a way that they feel strengthened and validated as potent, competent, worthwhile human beings…

The reflective listening style of communicating felt so clear, uncomplicated, honest, and real that I just sank into it with a great sense of relief…Even when I had to set limits, I experienced the companionship that comes with genuine connection and the shared knowledge that the limits were set in the interest of continued growth.”
