We’re excited to welcome Elan Guterman, MD, MAS, Associate Professor of Neurology at UCSF and affiliate faculty at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies to NHS’s 13th Annual Meeting!

Dr. Guterman’s research focuses on improving real-world care for neurologic emergencies like epilepsy, stroke, and dementia, with an emphasis on scalable interventions that expand access to high-quality care globally.

Her session, “From Cases to Questions: A Neurohospitalist’s Take on Doing Meaningful Research,” will offer practical advice for turning clinical observations into impactful research, strategies for building a portfolio as a practicing neurohospitalist, and insights on where the field is headed.

We’re honored to feature Barbara Dworetzky, MD, FAAN, FANA, FAES, The A.J. Trustey Endowed Chair of Neurology and Professor at Harvard Medical School, Director of the Edward B. Bromfield Epilepsy Program, and Co-Director of the Functional Neurological Disorder Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Dworetzky will present “Functional Neurological Disorder for Neurohospitalists,” a practical, case-focused session on how to recognize, diagnose, and manage FND in hospital settings. Given its prevalence and complexity, FND can be challenging, but with the right tools, neurohospitalists can make a profound difference in patient care.
