I did it!!! 💃🏼
I gave a presentation in Spanish for an entire hour. “Adaptogens and Nervines in Clinical Practice: Beyond Ashwagandha and Rhodiola.”
Yes, I did this while on vacation, at the 4th Congreso Mexicano de Lifestyle Medicine, the annual conference last month. It was an honor and huge accomplishment to combine my love for Spanish and herbal medicine. One of my crazy goals since starting to learn Spanish in 2018 was to give a presentation related to my work and passion!
Most of all though, I loved the feedback I received on the content!! I covered 15 herbs and their clinical applications, actions, dosing, warnings, and research.
Prepping for this just after moving, while also preparing for and recording 7 podcast episodes in a 4-week span, and my regular work was completely nuts. I’ve never felt so mentally stressed and tired. Taking all the herbs definitely helped though!
The conference theme was Abracadabra, and magical it was indeed! Mexico always is. I love having a group of friends in Mexico, and I love the amazing, growing community of functional and integrative medicine practitioners.
I’m so grateful to several people through this journey - to the best organizers for believing in me and putting together the best conference ever 2 years in a row - .elisasacal & .
To everyone who’s helped me on my Spanish learning journey - , the podcast, and most of all my tutor Maria who spent over 30 hours with me online in the 5 weeks leading up to the presentation, at all hours of the night! eres la mejor!
To my amazing travel roomie, for the encouragement, laughter and fun .bernyvillavicencio.
And to , my herbal medicine teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with the world!
