I have recently discovered a new search tool on www.familysearch.org in their Experiments section. It is called Full Text Search and it uses AI to search both typed and handwritten (yes, handwritten!) documents. Tonight I found my grandmother Pagliero's petition for citizenship in Vermillion County circa 1930. For those of you looking for that type of information, I saw many familiar surnames from the Clinton area in that data set (Nepote, Baima, etc.). On my non-Italian side, I found a handwritten deed from 1780 for my ancestor that I had never seen and never would have found without this tool.

I encourage you to try it. It is a "beta" version, so it is not perfect, but it is really powerful. Not all counties and not all records are loaded (and not much from Italy yet), but there is a lot to work with already. I talked with two of their project engineers last week and they said they are loading more records all of the time.
