LOW BACK PAIN !!
Found yourself sitting more, working from home, desk jobs! The sitting position for longer periods causes your hip flexors and quads to become short and tight, which then pulls your pelvis forwards out of correct alignment, the hamstrings become lengthened and weaker as a result.
This muscle imbalance, incorrect postural alignment and dysfunction places excess strsss on the back muscles causing PAIN !

Correct assessment and soft tissue treatment can help correct this!
Let me help you ❤️

Post hip and Knee replacement!
Surgery often leaves us with excess scar tissue around the joints affecting your recovery!
We also overcompensate during recovery, over working and placing more stress on other parts of the body, which ultimately leads to further aches and pains.

Soft tissue therapy and rehabilitation can help you avoid these overcompensation pains and improve your mobility and recovery

If this sounds like you or someone you know then please get in touch and let me help

MOBILITY and why it’s essential to add it to your wellbeing routine

Difference between Mobility and Flexibility!

Mobility is Proprioception, our perception and awareness of our body’s positions and movements in space. It increases your range of motion, controls muscles surrounding each joint and helps you move more freely and actively. Helps improve our balance and coordination!

Flexibility on the other hand increases the length of the muscle tissue which helps you move your body through a full range of movement without causing an injury, stiffness or pain.
Both equally important !

If you want to move more freely, achieve your everyday activities pain free or improve your fitness levels then Mobility is vital !

Other benefits include

Promotes good posture,
Helps to reduce stiffness, tension and knots,
Reduces joint deterioration,
Improves all round functional performance and fitness!

I can help you with devising a mobility (and flexibility) programme together to suit your needs ❤️

DESK JOB- Pain in shoulders and neck!!

Spoiler alert! Sat hunched over a desk all day takes up more energy than sitting up straight. Your muscles and other tissue have to work harder to keep your body MIS-ALIGNED!!!

POOR POSTURE, causes postural deviations such as rounded shoulders, muscle imbalance and weakness, spinal dysfunction, joint degeneration, poor circulation and PAIN !!

Soft tissue treatment will help correct these postural dysfunctions using techniques to release the tight and restricted tissue and activate the weak tissue, in preparation to then build on the strength with specific exercises.

It won’t correct itself so book an appointment today before it gets worse!

Pain in your HIPS?

You could be suffering with gluteal tendinopathy!

Symptoms include:
• Moderate to severe hip pain.
• Pain may radiate down the outside of your leg and/or into the groin and glute area.
•pain in lower back.
• Pain usually starts around the hip bone and gets worse when climbing stairs or hills, getting out of bed, lying on your side, sitting for long periods with legs crossed and standing on one leg.

What is Gluteal tendinopathy ?
A tendon disorder in your hips and glutes, where the tendon tissue breaks down and deteriorates.

Most affected are
• females over 40 especially those post menopause.
• younger people who are active such as running, skiing and dancing.

How is it treated?

You may be lucky if the symptoms reduce on thier own however this may take over a year before any relief and in this time overcompensation patterns have occurred and your left with other issues and potentially more pain.
• Majority see significant improvements within 12 weeks with soft tissue treatment and exercise therapy!

If any of this sounds familiar to you then book an appointment with me today

Shoulder and Neck pain!!

My client came to me with shoulder and neck pain.
She has a desk job on the computer all day and the added stresses of life contributing towards her pain.

We started work on identifying muscle restrictions and weakness, soft tissue techniques used to reduce tension and waste, increase circulation, length of tissue and range of movement, all helping to reduce symptoms!

My client had particular restriction with range of movement in her right shoulder with internal/external rotation.
Picture shows improvement after 2 sessions

SOFT TISSUE RELEASE!!

Good progress made with clients last week using techniques such as myofascial release and soft tissue release work to help restore tissue length and function, correcting muscle imbalances.

My client came to me with back and groin pain.
After initial assessment and eliminating any red flags, we started treatment to reduce muscle tension and identified his muscle imbalances and weakness which is contributing to his pain.
My client was very restricted in his hip flexors and quads as well as his piriformis muscle all affecting mobility of the hip joint and overcompensation.

With additional work and advice on stretch mobility and strength in order to reduce pain and improve range of movement and function.

Picture shows piriformis aiming to achieve over 45 degree, and hip flexors (aiming for thigh to touch the couch) and quads (aiming for 90 degree angle at the knee joint)

Sports Therapist v Sports massage Therapist!

The two are often confused, however distinctively different professions.
Sports Massage is a single element of sports therapy.

Sports therapy builds on sports massage to include advanced soft tissue techniques and orthopedic assessments.
As a sports therapist I treat muscular skeletal dysfunctions and disorders. I treat pain and tissue dysfunction with a range of hands on treatment modalities, prescribed rehab exercises and education on injury and management.
I studied with Active Health in Manchester with Level 5 advanced sports therapy and rehabilitation.
I am a member of the sports therapy organisation (STO) and fully insured with Balens insurance. 👍😊

ITBand syndrome !
A common injury especially with runners, either experiencing pain in the lateral knee or hip.

Have you been stretching and foam rolling your ITBand and having no luck reducing your symptoms or only short term relief, then that’s because in most cases it’s not actually the tightness in the ITband that’s the cause of the problem, but in fact restrictions and weakness elsewhere such as the glutes and TFL or even further along the chain!

The ITBand is a thick fibrous band of fascia. It is extremely tough and designed to not stretch under load and can’t contact like muscles do !
It is however designed to provide stability for the hip joint, So we actually don’t want it to lengthen and potentially compromise its main function. Instead we address what’s going on around it!

Why not book in with me today and let me help you by identifying the restricted tissue and weak tissue so we can work together to correct these dysfunctions and finally reduce these symptoms
