I recently shared about how I am having my baby start the night in her pack n play, but how once she wakes up the first time, she comes into my bed with me.

I *could* work more towards independent sleep, but why would I? I love sleeping next to her, it feels safest to me, and we all sleep SO well. I know that working more towards independent sleep would personally cause me a lot more stress + would negatively impact my quality of sleep.

So I’m choosing not to work towards independent sleep right now because I’m choosing sleep and ease over independent sleep.

This is a very valid and common experience and perspective that isn’t talked about a lot.

The gold standard for infant sleep seems to be independent sleep, but what if, instead, the gold standard was prioritizing how babies’ needs can be met and how we can all get the most sleep? I think our perspective about sleep would really change.

Check the link in my bio for for free responsive sleep resources + if you are ready to get your baby in their own sleep space (which is also totally valid), join our upcoming webinar all about this topic. Register here:

If you’re thinking about night weaning, I have a little tip that can make the entire process so much smoother.
Start by setting some gentle nursing boundaries during the day first.
Read more about exactly how to do this in the blog post:

If your child needs you close to fall asleep, that’s completely normal! Many little ones feel safest when a parent is nearby as they drift off—it’s how they’re wired. But if you’re looking for a responsive, relationship-based way to support them in building a little more independence at bedtime, I want to share one of my favorite strategies with you: The Pop-Out Strategy.
This is not sleep training. It’s not about forcing separation before your child is ready. It’s about gradually, at your child’s pace, creating small moments of space while maintaining connection and trust. Read more about how it works here:

If you’re in the newborn trenches, waking up all night long, you might be wondering—does total sleep matter more than getting long, uninterrupted stretches? And is it normal for babies to wake this much?

Spoiler: Yes, it’s normal. And yes, your baby is supposed to sleep this way.

Babies don’t sleep like adults, and that’s by design. Their sleep cycles are much shorter—only about 45-60 minutes compared to an adult’s 90-minute cycle. Plus, they spend way more time in active (REM) sleep, which is crucial for brain development and memory processing.

When kids feel connected before bed, they settle more easily. They resist less. They actually go to sleep instead of popping out of bed 14 times for “just one more thing.”

But what if you are totally spent by bedtime? (Because, let’s be real, you probably are.)

Good news: Connection doesn’t have to be high-energy. You can fill up their little love tanks without moving much—or, ideally, at all.

Here are 12 lazy-parent-approved bedtime games that increase connection, decrease bedtime struggles, and (bonus) require very little effort from you.

Bedtime battles? Stalling? Suddenly dying of thirst the moment the lights go out? Yeah, we've all been there. Here’s the thing—most of the time, kids aren’t fighting sleep itself. They’re fighting separation. When kids feel connected before bed, they settle more easily. They resist less. The...

For years, parents have been told that bedsharing is dangerous and should always be avoided. Pediatric organizations issue blanket recommendations against it, emphasizing risks without acknowledging the biological realities of infant sleep—especially for breastfeeding families.

But here’s the thing: even physicians, who are trained to discourage bedsharing, often end up doing it themselves. Keep reading here:

Is anyone else trying to do the 1000 hours outside challenge? We have always prioritized outdoor time, but this is the first year we are actually tracking how many hours we spend outside, and honestly, we are pretty behind. Toothpillow is a pre-orthodontic device that facilitates nasal breathing, gentle palate expansion, proper tongue placement, and jaw development to reduce these symptoms and help prevent the need for braces in the future.

Personally, my 4 year old has been wearing the device for less than 3 months, and his adenoids have shrunk from 100% obstruction of the airway to 75% obstruction!

I am a big believer in this tool as I've seen some amazing results both personally and professionally.

There's currently a sale right now, this week only. Get your free video assessment + save $200 if you decide to move forward with treatment when you enter my name (Taylor Kulik) at checkout. There is no risk to see if your child is a candidate right now as you are not obligated to move forward with treatment.

I highly recommend taking advantage of the sale and doing this THIS week.
