Susan Hargett, is a licensed professional counselor, certified yoga instructor recognized by Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. ​She is originally from Illinois and moved to San Antonio in 2013 with her family. She holds a Masters of Art degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from St. Xavier University, Chicago and graduated from The Temple of Kriya Yoga, Chicago.

Each day can be your best day or your worst day. No matter which, nature is right there, waiting to guide you through your life. Being outdoors helps you to forget about the stresses of life. Any unsettling feelings experienced dissolve.

Here is a practice I personally do and invite you to try this practice each day for one week. Then notice how you feel. I also have three reflection questions you can dive into through your meditation or journaling practices.

🫶 Building awareness of nature 🌳
As you walk outside each day, pause for just a few moments to look around. Inhale the air. Notice the sensation of the breeze across your face. Notice the loveliness of the natural environment.

🤞Promise yourself to take intimate notice of nature’s backdrop. The color of the sky, the faint fragrance in the air, and the sound of the trees rustling in the breeze. Allow the beauty of nature to sustain you.

📖Three reflection questions for your practice:
1️⃣ Are there times when I am in a rush or so deep into my thoughts that I miss seeing all that nature provides for me?
2️⃣ Do I take every opportunity to relax and lean into the beauty of nature?
3️⃣ Regardless of my mood each day, how can I remind myself to turn to nature for solace and sustenance for my soul?
