Giving Back Day #4: She’s burning out.
They take care of the sickest children on our side of this country.
They walk new parents through their living nightmares.
They care for, and fight to save, the smallest of humans ❤️
Surgeries for brains, hearts, bellies, and little broken bones.
Twelve to sixteen hour shifts.
Plus the drive home.
Short staffed all the time. Almost at a spot where they might be mandated to work.
This means they will not actually be able to go home after a long shift, but will have to stay to keep caring for their tiny patients.
They have all been phoning their husbands on their breaks…explaining how much medicine to give to their own sick kids, trying to explain where to pick up that Christmas gift, and double checking babysitter schedules.
Nurses, doctors, and support staff…can we take a moment to thank you for your service?
Thank you for all of your sacrifices, including time spent away from your own family.
Today we gathered a huge crew of friends to help us ❤️
They wrapped up 100 Wilhauk Beef Jerky Ltd. Christmas boxes…loaded them all up into the trucks…put their Santa hats on…and then they helped the Grinch hand deliver them to as many nurses and Doctors that we could find at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
We want to take a small moment of your day to simply say, thank you ❤️
Thank you for all you’ve done over the last few years ❤️
Thank you for all your sacrifices, including the time you’ve spent away from your own families ❤️
We hear the stories.
We see the news.
We see YOU!
And, we thank you ❤️
“Yesterday at work, a coworker and I put a 42 day old baby in her Mommas arms for the very first time.
She was terrified.
We had talked about it with her for 2 days.
She held her baby for 4 hours straight.
When we put the baby back in her isolette, Momma immediately asked if she could hold her daughter again tomorrow?
We said yes, you can hold her everyday now.
It’s moments like this when we know we’re doing ok.”
As our group was walking out, we looked up to see the STARS helicopter leaving the rooftop of the hospital.
Fly safe, and thank you ❤️
Merry Christmas ❤️
