• About 20.9% of children between the ages of 14 and 15 reported having had at least one drink in their lifetime.
• 5.9 million teenagers between the ages of 12 and 20 reported consuming more alcohol than "just a few sips" in the previous month.
• There are racial and cultural differences in teenage alcohol use. For instance, at 14, the likelihood of drinking is the same for White, Black, and Hispanic youth. adolescents of color are half as likely as White and Hispanic adolescents to drink by the age of 18.
