The Calm Before the Storm.
This is a photo of the beautiful sky, the night before a storm/hurricane was to sweep through the next day. I knew what the forecast was and as I looked at the sky while walking my dog, I realized how there was no indication that the next days, winds would bring the blessed trees down and so many of us would be without power. But isn’t this a metaphor for life? We don’t know what will come next and what we can do, is live in the present moment. Yesterday morning, as I anticipated the impending storm, I took steps to stay grounded and to remind myself that I am here on earth, beneath the sky and above the ground. That’s what I know for sure in this moment.
I started the day with a yoga practice through and then went on zoom to join for 30 minutes of meditation. I know that my investment in being still, moving my body and consciously breathing, was helpful as I then “weathered” the storm in the afternoon.
I’m moving at this pace: Moment to moment, breath by breath. What are some ways that you find helpful to stay in the here and now, despite the storms that will inevitably come? Because after all, this is what it means to be alive.
Wishing you peace.
