Cholesterol and Statin Myths Data is showing that cholesterol is not the root cause of heart disease, and attempts to lower it do not help.

Info about cholesterol and statin drugs showing lowering of cholesterol is not beneficial and statin drugs have minimal heart benefit due to mild anti inflammatory effect (at very low dose) but have other serious side effects at typ higher doses. Statins may help ~2% of men after a heart attack or with heart disease, by an anti-inflammatory effect. And statins have permanent side effects, accelera

te aging, and are not attacking the root cause of any illness. There are much safer, simpler and less costly alternatives.

There are risks of stopping statins it appears. Fairly minor increase, 25-30%. Read here.

Heard recently that statins inhibit vit K2, which is needed to keep calcium going to the right place, instead of in plaques. Yes it is true. It also inhibits glutathione production. Glutathione is a miracle compound in cells, protecting them from toxins among other things. It is reduced as we age. Another paper suggested we all take NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) , a precursor to glutathione, over age 50, as it appears to be a factor in ageing. K2 also is especially important when supplementing with vit D, since it increases calcium absorption. Typically 100mg daily. It is found in fermented foods. Cheese for example (Muenster was highest for some reason), sauerkraut, etc. One should limit calcium intake, and supplementation is not a good idea (books Death by Calcium, and Magnesium but Dr Thomas Levy MD, JD are very good).

In contrast to the current belief that cholesterol reduction with statins decreases atherosclerosis, we present a perspective that statins may be causative in coronary artery calcification and can function as mitochondrial toxins that impair muscle function in the heart and blood vessels through the...

A friend said his doctor has him on a statin again, because "anyone with high blood pressure should be on a statin". His total cholesterol is only 109 and he is on a plant based diet before being on the statin. The diet dropped it quite a bit. Going on readily available data, such low cholesterol would be a ref flag but the general attitude is the lower the better. Looking at all cause deaths, low cholesterol may be worse than high. I doubt this applies to a plant based diet since so few are on it. As to statins being needed for high blood pressure, this to me is a very poor substitute for several other beneficial actions such as exercise, relaxation techniques, magnesium and other minerals, omega 3, hawthorne, bp medication etc. Here is what GROK (AI on Twitter) came up with on cholesterol and all cause death. The optimum is around 200 +. LDL also has a U shaped curve.

"The relationship between cholesterol levels and all-cause death varies based on various factors such as age, s*x, and the specific type of cholesterol being considered. Here's a brief overview based on the information you've provided:

Total Cholesterol (TC) and All-Cause Mortality:
A study involving 12.8 million participants found that TC levels were associated with all-cause mortality in a U-shaped pattern, where both low and high levels were linked to increased mortality risk. The lowest risk of mortality was associated with TC levels between 190 to 210 mg/dL for men and 210 to 230 mg/dL for women, though these ranges can vary with age and s*x. Lower TC levels (

On the subject of vegetable saturated fats- so-called bad guys- not true. It takes a research paper from outside the US to tell us- this is from Ghana. Very interesting. Also Coconut oil is very beneficial to Alzheimer's patients because of the MCT oil that can be directly utilized for energy to the brain, where they have problems with carb utilization.

Coconut and palm oils which were the major sources of dietary fats for centuries in most of West Africa have been branded as unhealthy highly saturated fats. Their consumption has been peddled to supposedly raise the level of blood cholesterol, thereby ...
