I also teach people how they can bring real food into their busy lives with time saving hints and tips, along with one to one coaching, and talks! The REALfood movement is based on a few golden rules:

-REDUCE exposure

to sugars. Scientific evidence backs up how sugar and fructose are detrimental to the body in many biological ways. This means ALL forms of free sugars which impact insulin and the liver.
-ALWAYS KEEP THE FIBRE in your fruit and veg!! No smoothies, no juicing. Not only does Fibre protect us from insulin resistance, but it makes our gut microbiome very happy! Juices are now proved to be bad as drinking a sugar or syrup based soda fizzy drink!
-ALWAYS read the true ingredients list on the back of packets, bottles, cans, bags, packs, and labels! Do not rely on words and statements on the front labels! The classic example of products trying to pretend to be healthy are breakfast cereals or juices.
-Fat IS Your Friend and a calorie is NOT a calorie! I mean good fats that are essential to wellbeing. No vegetable oils (too much omega6 pro-inflamitory) or trans-fats hydrogenated. Good fats are grass fed, pastured, wild saturated fatty acids from animal or fish, short chain and medium chain fatty acids like butyrate found in grass fed butters, omega3 fatty acids, extra virgin coconut oil, flaxseed milled (especially if you are vegetarian based), fatty 'fruits' like avocado and Acai Berry, which have no fructose.

The specific REAL Food Lifestyle I follow that suits my own body type for healing my past metabolic syndrome and controlling my genetic autoimmune diseases, is a LowCarbHighFat diet that has the Paleo/Primal principles of being grain-free and bean/legume-free..I have found this works wonderful results for me. Even so, everybody is different, and you won't be forced onto what works for me! No wacky fads based on belief! It is also not about obsessively hating all sugar, as I do understand the cultural history of sugar being celebratory and a treat. The issues come when you have particular metabolic needs, or ORDs (obesity related diseases such as Metabolic Syndrome, T2D, or fatty Liver disease, or TOFI). The other huge issue here is that sugar is not a treat anymore, due to it being put in virtually EVERYTHING you eat, snack on, drink, and eat through the day, every day, and this is the ISSUE: Awareness! Less processed food with added sugars, more real foods like keeping foods WHOLE with the fibre intact, good fats, drink water not soda or juice, forget the calorie MYTH as not all calories are EQUAL. Everything I talk about is backed by science, published papers, and biochemistry. www.SugarScience.org & www.ResponsibleFoods.org

MY BREIF BIOGRAPHY:
As you've probably noticed, I have a huge interest in health and wellbeing. I have been on a journey of trying many different lifestyles, studied herbs, nutrition, amino acids. Having mixed connective tissue autoimmune diseases most my life from childhood with Metabolic Syndrome, I have at times of trail and error, investigated different lifestyle methods of improving health naturally. Spent years researching natural health, the quest to help myself never stopped. Over the last seven years, I learnt the hard way what foods trigger my hypothyroid too. Having mostly been vegetarian most my life, then going vegan in 2003 thinking it would have a positive effect on my body. I was wrong! As the past six years I made myself be raw vegan high fruit, high carb with starch in evening. Back then I wasn't following any quack diet, I never used to watch youtube either! I simply thought all the tons of blended fruit I ate each day was good for me! That all made me very sick and now consequentially cannot cope with much fructose anymore. When my autoimmune flared, I learned that I have to be a ‘selective’ excluding soya (a powerful goitergen and oestrogenic). The biggest realisation moment occurred in February 2012, when I came across Dr.Robert Lustig's original Endocrinology lecture on Fructose. You can find it on Youtube! I learnt all about how the endocrine system functions. Everything I was learning years ago about biology and nutrition suddenly came flooding back to me! I then explored a lot of new information I then came across about Paleo, primal, Low Carb High Fat, AutoImmune Paleo, ketogenic...
All you can do is try your best and listen to your body! So I had no choice but to become a MEgan; have to give my body what makes it function at its best as it can! After a few tough years for my health, 2016 is a year of revitalisation and exploring what I want. I have had to use chemo meds to save my life several years ago, and thyroid extract, I hope to eventually rebalance my body as much as I can so I can come off these, but something I do like to emphasise is that if you need life saving modern medications, theres nothing wrong with that either, all you can do, is do your best, with gratitude and making good choices.

Is the breath of those with dementia different? According to a new study, yes, and breath may even act as a unique and practical biomarker for determining brain health. I’m excited to see where this research goes, but I’m also excited that we have blood tests available, as well. https://alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/alz.13053
