Honey, PhD, because of her own Lyme diagnosis after 10+ years of un-/mis-diagnosis (1999-2009), followed by 2.5 years of debilitating illness and full-time recovery (2009-2012). Read Kristen’s remarkable and inspiring recovery from late-stage Lyme disease with Lyme coinfections, as she candidly shares her experience with the hope that transparency and information will benefit others – Pay It Forward! Our name “Honey Honey Healing” comes from the name of Kristen’s beloved, late Mom, Honey Honey. Yes, “Honey Honey” was truly Mom’s name – Mom was “Honey Lynch” and then she married Mr. Honey to become “Honey Honey.” Tragically, one year into Kristen’s expected two-year treatment plan for Lyme disease, her beloved Mom committed suicide when Kristen was bed-ridden, dependent on family, and sickest from Lyme. Major trauma. Major grief. How ironic that Mom, who had been Kristen’s greatest medical advocate and Lyme champion and wanted nothing more than for Kristen to recover, caused harm and delayed Lyme recovery with her death. Lyme disability compounded by suicide. It tore apart the Honey family, so family support evaporated after Mom’s death. Therefore, to heal herself, Kristen turned to friends and community, launching this Honey Honey Healing website in 2011 to raise funds for her on-going, Lyme treatments. Today, Kristen is Lyme free – 100% Lyme free and looking to Pay It Forward! As proof of Kristen’s full recovery, she returned to full-time graduate school and work, successfully defending her Stanford University PhD in September 2012 to officially become Dr. Honey. She is a living example that 100% Lyme recovery is possible, even after years of neurological damage and disability. Beginning 2013, Kristen offers healing tips and a post-Lyme blog: KTH 2.0 Lyme Life Love at http://honeyhoneyhealing.com/khoney/blog/ . The post-Lyme blog: KTH 2.0 Lyme Life Love highlights healing tips, strategies, and scientific breakthroughs, as well as the personal aspects of what it is like to return to life post-Lyme -– a glimpse into the day-to-day of rebuilding one’s life after being sick for so long that relationships, family life, professional career, and life must be built up again. Honey Honey Healing is currently a one-woman, volunteer operation. Down the road, Kristen and partners aim to expand into a larger non-profit organization and fund, as a 501(c)(3) status, designed to help those struggling with a chronic illness. Our mission is to provide scientific understanding, educational resources, financial support, and emotional support through compassionate community. We believe that empowering patients with information and access to a safe, stable, healthy and nurturing environment for multiple levels of healing to address all five levels of the human biofield — including the mind, body, spirit — begets recovery.
