Mum_Hood is a pre and post-natal health and fitness programme, designed by mums for mums, to provide the tools for a healthy body and mind throughout pregnancy and beyond. Created by Pip Black and Joan Murphy, mums and founders of Frame (moveyourframe.com), Mum_Hood is here to educate and motivate our community on the many benefits of safe and effective workouts, sensible nutrition and staying in a positive head space throughout this ridiculously exciting, yet often overwhelming period of our lives. All our programmes are carefully designed to deliver content which is specific to the stage you're at, to take away the worrying and Google searching that can often add extra burden, rather than simplifying and reassuring. During our first pregnancies, we were shocked at the lack of information out there for expectant mothers regarding what type of exercise aside from swimming and walking, that it was safe to continue. As the number of women regularly exercising increases, this information has never been more in need. Similarly, post-natal exercise and nutrition is extremely important to help put our bodies back together post-birth. We've seen time and time again mums get to a certain stage post-birth, decide it's time to lose their baby weight and then throw themselves head-first into high intensity/high impact exercise, often resulting in injury, or at least tears! We can't emphasise enough how important it is to gradually get your fitness back, by starting with small, controlled movements and gradually increasing the range and intensity - think of it as similar to rehab after a severe spots injury. We totally understand that with a newborn to look after, exercise is often not top of your agenda, which is why we've made sure all our programmes are short and super easy to fit in around naps and chores. By taking 10 - 20 minutes 3-5 times a week to look after yourself, you will be amazed in the positive affects on not just your physical but mental health. We've bought together advice and information from a range of experts, crossing Pilates, Physiotherapy, Midwives, Nutritionists, Surgeons, hypno-birthing and Personal Training to create the most thorough and well-rounded programme available. We are here to support you throughout your journey, to motivate and inspire you even on the tough days, and to make you laugh.. because sometimes that's all you need to get you through the day (that, and a stiff glass of gin... sorry pregnant ladies - it wont be long!) x
