Yesterday was a powerful reminder of what happens when women and families come together and refuse to be overlooked. The conversation around maternity and postnatal care is changing, and it has to.
Too many women are navigating recovery feeling dismissed, under supported, or told their symptoms are just something to live with. Whether it is pelvic pain, bladder symptoms, prolapse, painful periods, or birth recovery, women deserve access to informed, compassionate, evidence based care as standard.
Women’s health should never depend on luck, location, or the ability to pay privately. It should be protected, prioritised and properly funded.
The future of maternity and pelvic health care has to be one where women are listened to, believed and treated early, not years later when symptoms have worsened. Change is overdue, but it is coming because women are demanding it.
