Imagine having your lifeline suddenly cut. That's the dire situation people with disabilities are facing right now due to federal Medicaid cuts impacting home- and community-based services. These critical supports are what allow individuals to live independently and thrive in their own communities. Their disappearance could mean losing the ability to remain in their homes, a reality that the Madden sisters and countless other people with disabilities are anxiously confronting.

Read about the real experiences of the Madden sisters and how Medicaid has supported them in their lives:

Medicaid pays for most of the in-home care that lets disabled Americans live independently. Will coming cuts put that care in jeopardy?

We’re proud to share The Arc Baltimore’s 2024 Annual Report, themed “Common Thread.” This year, we celebrate the shared humanity that unites us—especially within the developmental disability community.

From lifelong friendships like Chris and Arthur’s to new beginnings with Kamisha and her daughter Skarlett, our lives are woven together through love, support, and belonging. Even groups like the Loyola Girls Rugby team remind us how shared values strengthen communities. Thank you for being part of this tapestry—your support helps build a more inclusive and connected Baltimore.
