Good morning! Wellness Session Opportunity.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined. We are going to take a few moments to focus on the principal risk factors, causes, preventative measures and treatments. Tomorrow, Catherine Young, MSDH, will lead this discussion with those who are available.

A healthy diet is essential for good health and nutrition. It protects you against many chronic noncommunicable diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Eating a variety of foods and consuming less salt, sugars and saturated and industrially-produced trans-fats, are essential for healthy diet. One healthy option is Our campus delighted in their fresh same-day prepared salads. Check us out enjoying these healthy lunch options.

Good Afternoon C3 Members:

The Mississippi Community College Board was awarded a second-year wellness grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. The Foundation grants have enabled us to maximize our wellness efforts with healthy alternatives and opportunities. Our 2020 purpose is to continue promoting health and wellness in an active and engaging environment. Currently, we are rolling out our latest C3 project, a complex-wide accessible Bike Share System.
The PowerPoint attached has detailed instructions about the Bike Share and how to access.

There will be a total of 13 bikes on the R&D campus:
5 will be located on the South side of the JSU building (currently available)
5 will be located on the North side of the JSU building (waiting on shipment)
3 will be located at the Mississippi Library Commission - not part of the bike share system. (only available to MLC employees until the MLC re-opens – them available to all campus employees)

As we wait for the indoor wellness center to re-open, I hope that you will utilize the beautiful C3 outdoor area as well as give our bikes a spin!

Thank you and Stay Safe!

Dear MCCB Employees:

On behalf of the Education and Research Center (ERC) Wellness Committee, please allow me to express my deep appreciation for your continual support of ERC’s Annual Health Fair for state employees. After much discussion, our campus coordinators have decided not to host the January 2021 Annual Health Fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we remain dedicated to encouraging employee wellness, we feel that it is our responsibility to protect the health of the participants and vendors. Thank you for understanding during these difficult times.
We are looking forward to hosting in 2022 with a tentative date of January 27, 2022. We hope to see you there!
Please stay safe.
Best Regards,
Shana Hansen
