Drug addiction is a complex brain disease. It is characterized by compulsive, at times uncontrollable, drug craving, seeking, and use that persist even in the face of extremely negative consequences. Drug addiction prevents the individual from realizing their full potential in contributing to the social and economic development of the country. The Social and Economic costs of drug abuse place a great strain on the country
In present scenario in Pakistan estimated no of Drug Addicts are 6.7 Millions, 4.25 million suffering from drug use disorder and drug dependence , out of this 430,000 are Injecting Drug Users . In this data Youth are 20% of Pakistan Population, 5% of Adult using Illicit Drugs, 1 of every 10 students is using illicit drug and 60% drug addicts belong to educated class.
