Feeling stressed about New Year's resolutions?

It’s natural to feel overwhelmed, but this stress and pressure can lead to unrealistic expectations, which are even harder to meet if we're dealing with mental health struggles.

Be kind to yourself - instead of trying to take a giant leap, start with a series of smaller steps, celebrate the small victories just as much as the big ones, and remember that you deserve support and compassion.

With the right strategies and support, it is possible to achieve your goals, and Practice SF can help! Book an appointment with our intake coordinator today.

Happy Kwanzaa!

Created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966, Kwanzaa is a seven-day African American and Pan-African holiday that celebrates family, community, and culture, and takes place every year form December 26 to January 1.

Kwanzaa has 7 core principles: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith)

Here is a short list of great books that will help kids and parents alike celebrate this joyous holiday:

- My First Kwanzaa by Karen Katz
- Lil Rabbit's Kwanzaa by Donna L. Washington and Shane W. Evans
- The People Remember by Ibi Zoboi and Loveis Wise
- The Seven Days of Kwanzaa by Angela Shelf Medearis
