Attention 9th Grade Parents:

Bogalusa High School is an active participant in the Adolescent Pre-Diabetes Prevention Program. The program’s purpose is to detect the onset of pre-diabetes and to reduce type 2 diabetes in adolescents living in rural Louisiana. Through nutrition and physical activity education, the program teaches high school students and staff how to adopt healthy lifestyles.

All 9th grade students have received consent forms. Please have your student return the signed consent form to school by August 22nd, whether you would like them to participate in the program or not. All students with returned consent forms will receive a free t-shirt as well as pizza.

April is STD Awareness Month. Students were presented with facts this month to encourage them to get themselves talking with their peers about STDs.

Today during lunch, students were quizzed with a game of true or false to test their knowledge. Our school-based health center offers free, confidential testing here on campus to any student.

Everyone wants prom night to be memorable. It's a rite of passage-a celebration of the end of high school and the beginning of adulthood. Unfortunately, one decision can make this special night memorable in all the wrong ways. We want you to commit to making the right decision when it comes to the use of substances - alcohol, ma*****na and other drugs - and driving, as well as distracted driving.

On tonight for prom, please promise to...
-Remain sober
-Be to***co free
-Be drug free
-Attend drug and alcohol free prom parties
-Encourage friends and classmates to be alcohol and drug free
-Attend prom with a sober date
-Drive safely, obeying all traffic laws
-Not text and drive

Our Lumberjacks celebrated National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week March 18th-21st. With the help of our Youth Coalition, students learned interesting facts during the daily announcements and participated in a learning lunch on Thursday. NDAFW is an annual, week-long health observance that inspires dialogue about the science of drug use and addiction among youth.
