Our SCSHA leaders met with DHHS on 5/30/24. All speech, OT, and PT billing (CPT) codes are planned to receive a rate increase from 71% to 83% of the 2024 Medicare fee schedule. Due to the difference between timed coding at the state level for Medicaid, and untimed coding at the level of Medicare on 92507 and 92508, the agency cannot increase rates on these codes under the same formula, so DHHS is working to determine what can be done to increase rates on these two codes. SCSHA offered a significant amount of information including market rate comparisons, provider perspectives from our reimbursement committee, and information from ASHA. That information is being considered for next steps on 92507 and 92508.
Once legislative approval of the budget takes place, DHHS plans to increase therapy rates on July 1, 2024, with the exception of 92507 and 92508 which will remain timed and paid at the same rate. SCSHA wants to encourage providers who would like to advocate on the Medicaid reimbursement rates for CPT codes 92507 and 92508. While we are not a union, and have no control over what DHHS decides, we have given them input to consider on the methodology for valuing these codes in their long-term plans. Your individual feedback to the agency is a critical piece of the puzzle.
Today, we are soliciting to collect provider letters. When you send a letter to the agency, it would be helpful to share information such as:
-How the lack of an increase on the reimbursement for these two CPT codes may impact your business and patient access to care in your area
-What level of increase and timeline for this change would help you avoid those negative impacts
-Factors you want the agency to consider in valuing these services
-Steps you have taken as a business to make services accessible to patients and what Medicaid programs or waiver beneficiaries come to your practice for services
Please upload those letters on the link above by THURSDAY JUNE 6, 2024. We are sending these letters on Friday and cannot delay.
Thank you for your continued support!
