Su***de is a serious public health issue with wide-ranging social, emotional, and financial ramifications. Over 700 000 su***des are thought to occur annually on average around the world, and we are aware that each su***de has a significant impact on many more people.
From 2021 through 2023, "Creating Hope Through Action" will serve as the triennial theme for World Su***de Prevention Day. This serve as a reminder that su***de is not the only option and that through our actions we can encourage hope and strengthen prevention.
Through our actions, we may show those who are contemplating su***de that there is hope and that we care about them and want to help them. It also implies that our efforts, no matter how great or tiny, may provide hope to those who are struggling
Lastly, it serves as a reminder that su***de prevention is a public health priority and urgent action is required to make sure su***de mortality rates are reduced. WHO will continue to work with its partners to support countries to take concrete measures in this direction.
