Thank you to Grand Master Choa Kok Sui for his teachings and to Master Glenn who continues the teachings. Blessings to everyone.
GrandMaster Choa Kok Sui, a spiritual teacher whose teachings and wisdom are deeply rooted in virtues, meditation, the right viewpoint, and service, has shaped the lives of thousands of students globally. Master Choa, as he is fondly referred to, taught that each practitioner can contribute to planetary peace and harmony through their own personal practice of meditation and character development. Master Choa set out five balanced virtues (yin/ passive, and yang/active) that he believed were all encompassing enough to advance one's spiritual practice and contribute greater balance in the world: loving-kindness and non-injury, generosity and non-stealing, accurate perception and correct expression, constancy of aim and effort and non-laziness, and moderation and non-excessiveness. By developing these virtues individually, we affect the collective. He sets forth that the strength of the group is derived from the integrity of the individual. As we grow, the intensity of the light of the soul expresses this integrity.
One of the most powerful techniques Master Choa taught was Inner Reflection and Firm Resolution. Like all ancient teachings, it stresses that true power comes from within. This daily self-reflection looks simple and easy but can be more challenging as we deepen our practice. It requires one to identify events of unwanted behavior and make a firm resolution to correct the mistakes of the day by mentally and energetically creating a thought or image about how we would have wanted to respond. This offers the opportunity to insert right thoughts, right speech, and right actions into our experience, even after it has passed. We replace, reprogram, and train the mind to act according to a desired outcome. It is essential that we see the resolution clearly and that the use of the will to imbue the experience with the positive properties we choose. Creating this balance is vital as we move forward in a positive direction. Self-reflection is easier said than done and can be challenging and painful as it requires self-honesty and deep acceptance of the patterns we have created for ourselves, good and bad alike. Only through the practice of awareness of all facets of ourselves can we best serve our own lives.
Ultimately, practicing Inner Reflection and Firm Resolution can greatly increase our awareness of our personal lives and the actions we want to transform. Master Choa further said that when we become aware of our behaviors, we begin to realize that our thoughts are the seeds and that our feelings, words, and actions are the fruits. Only by being willing to examine all facets of ourselves can we spiritually develop and best serve our own lives. By regularly practicing Inner Reflection and Firm Resolution, we address the underlying thoughts that are the precursors to our actions. The transformation we seek begins within our minds. (GM/DM)
