You are not alone.

Sometimes, it’s nice just to hear that someone else has the same worries and struggles as you. In the parenting world, this can be ESPECIALLY true. The comparison game can be vicious.

Over the last few weeks and months, it seems like so many parenting resources have fallen into my lap and I LOVE IT! It has helped me feel more supported, prepared, and educated as a Mom.

I want to give a shout-out to Family Matters, who has been hosting a weekly playgroup in my town. It has been amazing for me and Anna. They also have a pretty long list of other awesome resources and events. If you’re local, check them out!

I also want to mention my favorite parenting/ kid-related accounts of Instagram right now: Plant-Based Juniors and Parenting Fairly
They are just full of everything I’m looking for right now!

So! If you’re a parent and you have some resources you want to share or celebrate, comment below!

Everything is connected.

Have you ever gotten sick right before or after a big event?
🙋🏼‍♀️

Maybe it was a cold or an upset stomach. Maybe it was something more serious. Sometimes our bodies respond with a physical reaction when we experience mental stress. If you’ve ever had an anxiety attack, you know that even “good” stress can do this.

Everything is connected. Knowing that, I believe even more strongly that by improving my physical health, mental health, and nutritional health, each will also help improve the other two.

It’s all part of the journey to be the best me I can be.

My goal is NOT to eliminate anxiety and bad days altogether....WHAAA???

Seriously. I’ve learned (still learning) that people are generally more successful in trying to be happy and loving life when we can find effective ways to deal with what life throws at us, rather than trying to control what happens.

Stress happens. Anxiety happens. Negativity happens. When I try to eliminate these things from my life, they inevitably reappear and I am disappointed. But when I focus on improving my resilience to these things, I am much more successful at finding happiness.

Anna and I like to get excited about our workouts! If you’ve been waiting for something to motivate you, this might just be it....⁣

A few years ago I was looking for energy, motivation, health, and JOY that just seemed to be missing. I was embarrassed and definitely lacked the motivation to go to a gym, so I started working out from home. (Spoiler alert, it’s been super convenient during COVID 👌🏻) ⁣

If you’ve seen some of my posts, or you’re not sure what I’m talking about, this might be the time to reach out to me! ⁣

I currently have ☝🏻 ONE $40 discount code for a starter pack of the newest workout program that brings a whole new level of excitement and FUN to exercise. It also comes with the opportunity to help other people find the joy as well. ⁣

If you’ve been looking for a change, send me a message! If you think you might be interested, comment below “I’m ready”. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻⁣
This discount is only good through Wednesday night!

En.vy- painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another, joined with a desire to possess the same advantage.

This is a feeling so present in my life right now, as I continue to struggle with not being able to sing and perform with my chorus. Seeing crowds of people on social media singing and laughing in bars, while I can’t meet with 20 other people to rehearse a song…..hurts. Seeing sporting events continue while a few of us sit on Zoom and pretend we can hear the chords while we sing on mute….is sad and lonely.

As we continue to face challenges like this, I think it is even more important to turn inward and reflect on ourselves and to keep searching for ways to choose happiness. Despite circumstances, I believe that happiness is a choice.

What is something you’re looking forward to doing again soon (hopefully 🤞🏻)?

How to LOVE Mondays⁣

Change the narrative: I think a lot of people hate Monday because of the negativity society has associated with it. If you tell yourself over and over again, week after week, that Monday SUCKS...guess what? You’ve just taught yourself to be miserable on a regular basis. WE have made Monday a bad day, so why don’t we make it a good day, instead?⁣

Positive mindset: Try coming up with some positive sides to the day. E.g.- a fresh start, getting to see work friends, etc. If it’s really hard to come up with anything, plan something positive for Monday, even if it’s something small. Now you have something to get excited about. ⁣

Set yourself up for success: One of the biggest complaints about Monday, is that early morning alarm. Get to bed on time and remind yourself of all the reasons you have to LIKE Monday. If you struggle because you have a long list of tasks that gets overwhelming, see if you can spread them out throughout the week or get something done on Sunday night so you don’t have to stress about it all on Monday morning.⁣

Share your favorite Monday hacks in the comments!!!! 📆⁣

LET’S HAVE A PARTY!!!! Does that stress you out? Haha it definitely makes me a little anxious! Last week I mentioned in my stories that it dawned on me that my daughter’s birthday is coming up and I’m going to have to plan a party for her. I (not so) secretly would love to be the cool, perfect, Instagram Mom who throws lavish parties with cute themes and coordinating decorations…...while my introvert self just wants to get a cake and have my parents come over. ⁣⁣

I asked in my stories, a lot of you said that you love party planning, so hit me with your best tips, tricks, and resources in the comments!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

“I think I actually made it.” These are the words I say to myself around this time of year every year when I realize that I made it through the winter. ⁣

Winter is one of the hardest times for me, but honestly I have had one of the best winters that I have had in a long time. I’m not someone who can just “power through” and wait until spring. It takes daily work and practice for me to feel happy and positive during the darkest time of year. ⁣

This winter, I really focused on myself. One of the most important forms of self-care for me is taking the time to journal, write out positive affirmations, practice GRATITUDE, and focus my time and energy only on what is truly important to me. It may seem simple, but it really works. If you’re curious about my simple, Type A journaling outline, comment ✍🏻 below. ⁣

Do you struggle with your mental health especially in the winter? What have you found to help?

𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬. 🍫⁣
Um yes, give me all of them. 😂⁣
I love desserts, so I find it super exciting when I find “healthy” dessert recipes. It’s not going to replace your fruits and veggies but you definitely don’t have to feel guilty about this one!⁣

I recently made these 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 and they are pretty good! Did you know you can save this post so you can look back at the recipe later??? Just click the bookmark icon on the bottom right hand corner of the post. To find it later, go to your profile and click on the three lines menu icon at the top of the page. There you’ll see “Saved” posts. ⁣

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬⁣

- ½ all-purpose flour⁣
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder⁣
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips⁣
- 1 tbsp extra-virgin coconut oil⁣
- 1 cup mashed avocado⁣
- ½ cup + 2 tbsp pure maple syrup⁣
- 2 large eggs⁣
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract⁣
- 1 dash sea salt⁣

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬⁣

1. Preheat the oven to 400° F. Line a 9x12 baking dish with parchment paper, with paper coming up the sides of the dish. Coat with cooking spray + set aside.⁣

2. Whisk together flour + cocoa powder in a medium mixing bowl. Set aside.⁣

3. Place a double boiler over low heat with water 1-inch deep in the bottom. Add the chocolate and coconut oil to the top of the double boiler and stir occasionally until melted. Set aside. (I just melted the chocolate and oil in a mug in the microwave)⁣

4. Place the avocado, maple syrup, eggs, extract, and salt in the blender; cover and blend until smooth. Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl.⁣

5. Stir melted chocolate into avocado mixture. Fold in flour mixture, adding ⅓ of the mixture at a time, until fully combined.⁣

6. Spread mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Bake for 40 minutes, or until firm on top. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the baking dish.⁣

Cut into 12 pieces and serve right away or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days!⁣

This recipe makes 12 servings.⁣

If you made it to the end, I’m curious: What was the best meal you ate this past month? What made it so great?

Nothing like a holiday post a few days late! So me. 😂
But there is no time like the present to celebrate people you love and practice a little gratitude.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My hubby is always my number one valentine, but this year I was feeling particularly grateful for my church family and my work family, as well. 💗 I am so glad these people are in my life!

Remember to find love EVERY DAY. Love is the answer.

1. Happiness isn’t a destination, it’s a practice.⁣

2. You may not be able to control every thought that you have. But you can control the one that comes next, and how you choose to respond.⁣

3. Regular exercise is not just for athletes and people who want to lose weight. ⁣

4. The more we talk about our struggles and successes with mental health, the better we will be able to cope and thrive. ⁣

5. Wishing you were different than you are is not a good use of your time.

Well it’s definitely winter! ❄️ We are shoveling, snow blowing, bundling, and trying to keep dry skin from completely taking over. 😂 My hands get super dry in the wintertime and it can be a real struggle.⁣

But these products have really been helping my dry skin this winter. The lotion is thick enough and very moisturizing without being greasy. The ointment is for when you really need that extra umph! I have mostly been using the lotion as a body moisturizer, and the ointment on my hands in combination with any regular hand lotion. The ointment is the extra boost I need to prevent cracks and keep in moisture. ⁣

Do you have super dry skin? What practices or products have you found that work for you?

𝔸 𝕟𝕖𝕨 𝕞𝕠𝕟𝕥𝕙. ⁣
I used to not care about the beginning of a new month because I didn’t think it made any difference. And the truth is, it’s not the month the makes the difference, it’s me.⁣

Now, I get excited to use the start of a new month as an excuse to make a positive change or to keep up the habits that are making me happy. ⁣

In February I’m excited to continue the trend of working on myself, being happy, and putting 𝕄𝔼 𝔽𝕀ℝ𝕊𝕋. It’s true what they say, that you have to fill your own cup first. I practice filling my cup by ⁣
✨meditating⁣
✨choosing which thoughts I let drive my day⁣
✨staying active⁣
✨and fueling my body with nutritious stuff!⁣

In order to be the best wife, Mom, coworker or friend that I can be, I need to be the best 𝕄𝔼 first. ⁣

Are you filling your own cup first?
