During this 3-day retreat, Mingyur Rinpoche will teach on a single practice that integrates all elements of our experience. “Stillness, Movement, and Awareness” describes the nature of awareness, as well as when it is with (movement) and without objects (stillness). This specific practice helps us link formal meditation with everyday life practice.

PREREQUISITES FOR ATTENDANCE
Requirements for participation: To have received Joy of Living Level 1 teachings in person or online.

Why Do a Retreat?

Retreat is simply the practice of taking some time away from the obligations and pressures of our usual daily routines in order to give our full attention to meditation practice. Doing so allows the practice to touch our hearts and minds more deeply and gives us the opportunity to see our mental habits with greater clarity.
This setting makes it easier for us to recognize our true nature and express our innate qualities of awareness, loving-kindness and compassion, and wisdom – and gives us a big boost of insight and energy for the ongoing daily work of transforming our habits following the retreat.

Planning Your Retreat

• The key point when arranging a retreat is to reduce distractions.

• Make clear guidelines for yourself about checking your phone, for example, and do all the shopping for your meals in advance.

• Set the intention to follow the schedule to the best of your ability.

• Help those you share your space with – partner, family, housemates – to understand how they can support you in your retreat practice, for example by letting them know when you will be available to spend time with them.

• Have a location where you know you can focus and relax without being disturbed. If you live with others, set some ground rules – like the request that when the door is closed, no one come in.

• Set this space up with everything you need for your practice – your cushion, the device you will use to join the retreat, and anything else that will help you feel supported and comfortable.

• And don’t forget to use the breaks to stretch or go for a walk outside – anything that helps you to feel refreshed without disturbing the flow of your meditation practice.

It’s also important to remember the phrase “not too tight, not too loose.” We can be flexible when we need to be, balancing commitment with adaptability. We may need to change our approach as we go along, and that’s okay. Being honest with ourselves is part of the process of becoming more familiar with who we are, and trying to force things never helps.

Nous sommes tous, ou presque, chez nous et nous ne pouvons plus nous réunir pour méditer dans nos groupes respectifs.
Mais nous pouvons nous réunir tous ensemble 😊

Frédéric va animer, en ligne via Zoom, des sessions de méditation les dimanche matin et mercredi soir pour celles et ceux qui le souhaitent.
