Wren has been doing pretty well lately-- minimal seizure activity, more alertness and eye contact, a little bit better sleep schedule... he stayed out of the hospital for 5 weeks, but tonight we are back in the ER.
Not because he's sick
Not because he started having breakthrough seizures
Not because he wasn't tolerating feeds
We are in the ER because his meds for his infantile spasms was not filled on time. The pharmacy first emailed me on the 13th saying they weren't getting what they needed from the prescriber. Today is the 25th, and it's still not filled. He has I asked what the out of pocket cost would be in case we could cover and get reimbursed. This med is $18k for a 30 day supply. Insane. I still have no assurances on when the med will actually be filled or a true plan for what to do in the meantime. I've been talked down to by so many people the past two weeks for trying to get ahead of this by "going around the system". Hell yes I'm going to do everything I can to get my kiddo what he needs! The only reason this hasn't happened before is we end up with a reserve in the months Wren is admitted to the hospital...
So, here we are, wasting ER resources and going to have far more charged to insurance than if the med had just been filled on time... still no idea what will be done about it...
Here's a pic with the Easter bunny at least.
