                                            My Story.
I am a 41 year old male. For most of my life I have been struggling with obesity.
When the covid lockdowns hit I was around 130kg. My height is around 180cm.
By the end of the lockdowns late 2021 i was around 155kg. By April 2022 I was over 167kg.
We can see where this story is most likely to end if I do not once and for all solve my obesity.
I was determined to finally solve my obesity problems once and for all. Even if i lost some weight if i did not understand how to stay at a healthy range I was scared one day i would be 200kg or dead.
Well by May 2022 I was under 165kg. But what sparked my mind was I noticed an improvement in my movement. What i started doing in April 2022 was stop swimming and start weight resistance training (went to the gym a few times a week).
So i hit the gym more often and harder. I watched youtube videos on weight resistance exercises. I read as much books as i could. Finally i started to take small steps in improving my nutrition but at this stage i rhought exercise was more important than nutrition
By 1st January 2023 i was around 150kg. I was feeling better and exercise was a big part of my life.
The weight kept coming off slowly. I kept reading and watching videos on being healthy. By end of March 2023 I was 140kg.
But something happend in April 2023. Everything I was learning over the last year came together in my mind and i finally reealised that nutrition was the key to getting rid of obesity. Also by this stage my desires for types of food changed a lot. I no longer desired sugary food or sweets or fried food. I only wanted healthy food and for the 1st time in my life i considered the calories in what i was eating.
Well from April 2023 the weight just came off. I was losing up to 5kg a week and it was cobsistent. I went from struggling to losing weight to just shreding the weight off. My clothes were coming way too big for me. I would buy smaller pants. The following week those pants were too small and had to buy smaller pants. This went on for a couple of months.
I now weigh just over 95kg. More importantly my versical fat is well within healthy range now. I have lost 70kg.
I think i have finally worked out how to never be obese again. From my experience it seems that a major cause of obesity are bad habits and the ease our society has for fullfilling those bad habits. Its difficult to find healthy food. Most food sold is absolute crap. By indulging these unhealthy foods we crave more of these unhealthy foods and they are much easier to get than healthy foods. If you have an unhealthy diet, you don't feel satisfied with healthy foods.
So how do we break the cycle? It is up to each individual to chose to break the cycle. Accept where you are today but know you have the power to change. Change is not easy.
The mistake people make in trying to become healthy is that they aim to go from one extreme to another extreme in one hit. That is destined for failure. Instead think small steps. Instead of focusing on a weight target or suddenly changing your habits focus on educating yourself on nutrition and exercise. Make small changes to your habits to make them better but keep reveiwing your habits and looking for small changes that you can make.
There is a lot of bu****it out there about how to get healthy. For example imminent fasting. I was told by a trainer to give it a go. But guess what i was not interested in feeling hungry. Now if you like the idea of imminent fasting than go for it but if you do not then don't do it. You should not feel hungry when losing weight. If you are constantly feeling hungry and you do not like that feeling you are most likely to fail. Instead go back read more, watch more videos and review your habits. Sure it takes time to do this and there will be times you will get impatient but believe that you will beat obesity once and for all. Have faith in yourself. Just keep educating yourself, keep reviewing your habits and keep making small managable changes.
