🚨 REMINDER! 🚨 We are springing forward into Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning. If you want to start moving your little one’s bedtime gradually, start doing it TONIGHT.

I recommend getting your baby out for some Vitamin D when trying to stretch their wake window a little bit and also right after dinner, just before bedtime routine!! It doesn’t have to be for long periods of time!

🇬🇧 Sun exposure and vitamin D are important for sleep initiation in children.

Here are some facts about vitamin D and sun exposure:

⭐️Regulation of circadian rhythm: Exposure to natural light, especially during the early hours of the day, helps regulate the circadian rhythm. This can contribute to establishing a healthy biological clock, favoring sleep initiation, and improving sleep quality at night.

⭐️Vitamin D and sleep: Vitamin D plays a role in sleep regulation. Research shows that low levels of vitamin D increase the risk of sleep disorders and disruptions in adults and children.

Relying on sleep props is a major reason why many babies struggle to sleep through the night. Sleep props are anything that a baby relies on to fall asleep, such as rocking, feeding, or pacifiers. These methods can be effective in getting a baby to sleep initially, the problem arises when the baby wakes up during the night and is unable to fall back asleep without that same prop. They get stuck! And they never really sleep better as they get older. This can lead to frequent night wakings, as the baby has not learned to self-soothe or fall asleep independently.
