My 3-year-old daughter is my greatest teacher when it comes to anger and boundaries and making her “NO” sacred.
Her anger, her frustration, her rage… she doesn’t repress them! 😉 She expresses them — and strongly.
It even shows up in her dreams. It seems like everything that could make her angry gets replayed in her subconscious while she sleeps, and she can wake up very angry and screaming several times a night.
Yet I assure you, we really listen to her and she has plenty of freedom and choices every single day!
Sometimes she wakes up in that space. Angry. Frustrated. In a bad mood. And I can’t blame her. Dreaming that others don’t listen to you or that you can’t do what you want — it sucks for anyone, and even more when you’re 3.
It can take her a while to get out of that frustration. And sometimes it creates frustration in me too, because I don’t want to start my day like that and I want to help her... but when she’s in that space, she often refuses everything.
So yes, of course, giving her space for her emotions is essential.
And also, finding ways to re---connect. To remind her that she’s not alone against the world. To remind her that she is loved and that it’s possible to feel her frustration and then choose to move on.
Because this day will never come again.
There’s only one today like today.
That’s how our morning ritual of saying good morning to everything around us started. So much so that we made it into a book.
“Good morning life!” is more than a book — it’s a ritual-book to reconnect to oneself, to others, and to life.
I illustrated it myself, even though I’m not an illustrator, because we don’t need to stop ourselves from doing things just because we lack a degree or some “official” talent. We can just do things simply. I hope that by creating these simple illustrations myself, I can give everyone permission to create because we can no longer afford not to create. We have to stop getting in our own way. We must create. Creating is life.
And the cherry on top is that my daughter colored the illustrations herself. Did it require a bit of letting go? Yes. But I believe it makes the book even more perfect. Perfectly imperfect.
If you’re interested, write to me and I’ll send you the Amazon link. I also have paper copies with me.
Thank you! And good morning and have a beautiful dy!
