It’s always about marketing tactics to boost profit ...it’s rarely ever about your baby.

It’s always about marketing tactics to boost profit ...it’s rarely ever about your baby.

In 1929 Ge**er began an advertising campaign to convince dieticians and pediatricians that canned baby food was just as nutritious as homemade food, and even better because it was scientifically prepared.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As part of the campaign, doctors received free Ge**er products for patients. Ge**er also funded research touting the health benefits of their food. That research—vaguely worded and devoid of peer review—was published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, positioning it as scientific fact.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alongside these efforts, Ge**er stated that women who prepared their own baby food were neglecting their husbands—and babies. One 1933 ad read, “For Baby’s Sake, Stay Out of the Kitchen!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alongside these efforts, Ge**er advocated for starting solids at 3 months old. And by the 1950’s—after 20 years of advertising—the average age of introducing solids fell to just 6 weeks old.💔
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since then the medical community realized that too-early introduction of solids displaced valuable nutrition from breast milk/formula. The consensus among medical institutions today (AAP, U.S. National Institutes for Health, and World Health Organization) is that it’s best to introduce solids at 6 months old. It is at this time that most babies are developmentally ready to eat and need more iron. Conveniently, 6 months is also when babies are capable of feeding themselves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Baby food was invented. Mom guilt was marketed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is no perfect order of introducing solids. No no need for “stages” of thickness. These were all constructs in the name of profit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Convenience has its place. I love a good yogurt pouch and rely on Cheerios when traveling. But the idea that real food has to be hard isn’t good for anyone. Babies don’t need banana pudding or pricey pouches—a banana is fine!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is a reason feeding feels complicated. Corporations spent the last century telling your grandmothers and great-grandmothers that they would be bad moms and wives if they didn’t buy pre-prepared baby food. So the next time you feel a twinge of guilt for feeding your baby YOUR way, remember that it’s not you. It’s history.

Ohhh I’m just out here practicing what I be preaching or whuteva

I’m starting my adjustments with Dr. Herold because chiropractic care during pregnancy can:

Decrease discomforts such as back, hip, pelvic and groin pain.

Decrease Sciatica, and heartburn.

Help promote better sleep and mobility.

Reduce tension in the muscles and ligaments supporting the uterus.

Reduce Intrauterine Constraint, creating more space in the pelvis for baby to move freely and engage.

I was referred to the by another Webster Certified chiropractor (S/O to !!) because they are closer to my house...OH and they’re BLACK owned and operated! ❤️💛

So far so good..I highly recommend it if you’re expecting ...I’m getting a head start but it’s good to get going by no later than 32 weeks...also some insurances cover chiro care.

RESEARCH & do what you feel led to do!

Stay safe this holiday folks- it is wildly important that you not get sick during pregnancy.

“The study found they were significantly more likely to require intensive care, to be connected to a specialized heart-lung bypass machine, and to require mechanical ventilation than nonpregnant women of the same age who had Covid symptoms. Most importantly, the pregnant women faced a 70 percent increased risk of death, when compared to nonpregnant women who were symptomatic.”

If symptomatic, they were more likely to develop complications and die than nonpregnant women with symptoms.

Happy ! Midwifery care is often connected to improved maternal and neonatal outcomes, fewer medical interventions, and intimate care. We are currently facing maternal health disparities in birth among women of color that can be mitigated and even improved through midwifery. In order to see more midwives make meaningful change, people need to desire their services! Certified Nurse-Midwives ( ) are just as knowledgeable and safe as working with any other obstetrics practitioner. It's up to us to change the cultural ideals associated with midwives for more mamas to be aware of their option of utilizing them for better birth outcomes. Let’s talk more about !

When they ask why we must focus on improving maternal health outcomes for black and indigenous women. Don’t let this message go over your head. Or get you into your “All lives matter” feelings .Black mothers are dying 4x as often as white women. When we have fixed it for black mothers. All mothers will benefit. This is not a racial issue. This is a human rights issue. All mothers deserve the right to a safe dignified birth.

We STILL have a LONG way to Go in this country. I cannot celebrate ANYTHING that happened while my people, my ancestors, my bloodline were still slaves. These systems were not designed while we were considered human ...& unfortunately the very essence of that thinking is still real today. As a Black woman in this country, I do NOT celebrate the 4th of July❤️✨.
