Getting ready for a colonoscopy? The prep may not be fun—but it’s one of the most important steps for protecting your health.

A clean colon helps your provider clearly see and remove polyps before they turn into Colorectal Cancer.

Prep tips to make it easier:
💧 Drink plenty of clear liquids
🥣 Follow the recommended diet the day before
💊 Take your prep medication exactly as directed
🚗 Arrange a ride home after your procedure

During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a great reminder that screening saves lives. If you’re 45 or older, talk with your provider about scheduling your colonoscopy.

Who Should Get a Colonoscopy? Here’s What You Need to Know.

Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when it’s caught early. A colonoscopy allows your provider to detect and remove precancerous polyps before they develop into cancer.

Current screening guidelines recommend:
• Adults age 45 and older should begin regular colon cancer screening
• Earlier screening if you have a family history of colon cancer or polyps
• Screening if you have inflammatory bowel disease, genetic syndromes, or certain risk factors
• Anyone experiencing symptoms like persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, or changes in bowel habits

Even if you feel healthy, colon cancer often develops without symptoms in the early stages. That’s why routine screening is so important.

During Colon Cancer Awareness Month, it’s a great time to take charge of your health. If you’re 45 or older—or have risk factors—talk with your provider about scheduling a colonoscopy.

Early detection saves lives. Screening could save yours.

Schedule your screening today.

Colon cancer often starts without symptoms—which is why screening matters.

So, who should get a colonoscopy?

✔️ Adults 45 and older
✔️ Anyone with a family history of colon cancer or polyps
✔️ People with inflammatory bowel disease or other risk factors
✔️ Anyone experiencing changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, or unexplained abdominal pain

The good news? A colonoscopy doesn’t just detect cancer early—it can prevent it by removing precancerous polyps.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to prioritize your health.

If you’re 45 or older, talk to your provider about scheduling your screening. Early detection saves lives. 💙

05/03/2026

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and Dr. Michelle Murday is reminding everyone that regular screenings are one of the most powerful tools we have to prevent colon cancer. Screening can detect precancerous polyps before they turn into cancer—and catch cancer early, when treatment is most effective.

If you’re 45 or older, it’s time to talk with your provider about getting screened. Taking this step could make all the difference for your health and your future.

Don’t wait for symptoms. Prevention starts with screening.
