My journey with finding a “natural solution” and to feel empowered when it came to my own health and wellness started not too long ago, in 2017. This Thanksgiving will be 16 years I lost my mother; and she was only 59 years old. In 2000, my brother gave our mother a kidney. By the time 2002 came around that medication damaged her heart and she needed heart surgery. In August of 2002, after her heart surgery, the medication damaged her kidney and she was back on dialysis.
The frustration, the pain, the hopeless & helpless feelings she (as well as I) felt were heartbreaking. I watched her take 28+ different medications every day. While one medication helped, it had side effects which damaged other organs. Her doctors were amazing and each specialist I believe truly tried to help her. The only problem was, each “medication” she needed, caused damage to another part of her body.
After she passed away, unexpectedly, on Thanksgiving morning in 2002…. I felt so empty and lost. I lost my best friend and my mother. I was beyond devastated, and 59 is too young to have this many health issues and pass away. I was angry, scared, frustrated, and my mom was gone. I also became fearful of even taking an Advil or Tylenol. I ended up with a phobia of taking any type of pill. If I had a headache or fever I would “suffer” through it because I was so afraid of the “side effects”. It would race through my mind… “while I’m getting rid of a headache, what damage am I causing to other parts of my body?” I was a single mother with 3 children to raise. The anxiety and fear stayed deep inside me for many-many years. However, I have found an essential, natural, solution.
I was introduced to doTERRA essential oils by one of my best friends in high school. After she and I re-connected, I made a few trips to visit her since we lived in different states. Every time I visited, she used a doTERRA oil on me and I was amazed; but then would come home and not think I could ever learn what she had, and it all just seemed too complicated to me, on the surface.
It wasn’t until I went to her son’s high school graduation. I had a horrible case of tennis elbow I was suffering with for the past few months. I was losing sleep, in pain at work, couldn’t even pick up my phone. I (of course) refused to take any medications since that fear/phobia was still inside me. I had a brace my fiancé had picked me up, I tried physical therapy, I would not use it if at all possible, I’d ice it, I tried about everything without “swallowing a pill” and nothing was helping. I just suffered with the pain. When I was with her, she saw the pain I was in. She applied 2 doTERRA essential oils to my elbow, sent me home with the bottles and told me how to use them; to be applied once in the morning when I got up and once before bed each day. She then told me to call her in a week.
A couple of days later I woke up and realized I had actually just slept through the night without waking up from pain. I noticed I was able to lift things with little discomfort and that piercing pain was now a dull pain. Before the week was up I called her and explained how AMAZED I was because in less than a week, I felt I was about 85% better as I was able to use my arm without tears from picking something up! Tears from the pain.
To this day (a year and a half later) I have not had issues with tennis elbow. After using the oils daily for 2 weeks, I felt I was 100% and I have not had any issues since. This “essential moment” for me was LIFE CHANGING. For the first time in my life, I felt EMPOWERMENT over my own health and wellness. I realized there was NATURAL SOLUTIONS in these little amber bottles! I was AMAZED what a drop of a pure therapeutic grade essential oil could do. I immediately decided I HAD to learn more. I needed this empowerment in my life.
So…. my journey with doTERRA essential oils started. I started to begin my own research. I not only researched the oils, but I tried them on everything I could think of. It was almost as if I was in disbelief; and was determined to find SOMETHING I couldn’t use it for. To this day, I have yet to be disappointed with a single thing about these oils. I gave up on trying to figure out what I couldn’t use the oils for; and decided I needed to share my experiences, so others could experience for themselves, just as I have.
I researched the company too. The brand DOES MATTER! Quality and purity are so important and after researching this, I knew I was with the best company which offered their product globally. Integrity and compassion are extremely important to me. My mom was the most compassionate person I had ever met. I found out that doTERRA not only provided what I needed to feel empowered with my own health solutions, but this company has more integrity and compassion than I ever thought a company could have. The Healing Hands Foundation and the Co-Impact Sourcing have blown my expectations of compassion and integrity away! I cannot express to you what this company is doing for the healthcare industry; what they are doing for our WORLD! Yes, doTERRA is a global company! The impact of what they are doing for the people in the countries that farm, grow, and harvest these precious essential oils for us is beyond amazing. I now feel empowered! Something I strongly believe I was led to by my mother. I’m also helping people learn how precious “earths oils” are and what they can do for us. My mother didn’t have access to anything like this. She didn’t have a natural solution to keep her healthy or use for comfort. Access for prevention, for lessening the amount of time when there was sickness or pain.
I am fortunate and passionate about sharing these precious gifts. Nothing makes me happier to see when someone has an “oil experience” and they find out first hand exactly what that self-empowerment over their wellness feels like. I feel fortunate I can teach my children, and grandchildren... as you will see often on this page my grandughters journey with using doTERRA essential oils. :)
